Pre-ordered WOC picnic but is it worth it?

It looks like the fastpass we will get (yellow, correct me if I'm wrong) is the same as we could get by going to the FP machines in the morning...right?

I pre-ordered the picnic so we could get better "seats" for the show, but now I'm wondering if the picnic is worth it? No one was too excited about the food selections.

Help!

Added: I was reading on the WOC Superthread and it looks like as of spring this year, it was exactly the same and there wasn't an advantage to getting them other than we don't have to go get the FPs ourself, but I'm not sure that's worth it! The kids will get a bracelet, which is kind of fun, but again, not sure it's worth it. What to do! Anyone have an opinion on them?

The Fastpass with the Picnic are work exactly the same as the free Fastpass from the GRR machines. No different seating.

Only get the picnics if you enjoy the food.

It takes less than 5 minutes to get WOC fastpasses.
They are distributed in order: 1st show Blue (early morning), 1st show Yellow(late morning - afternoon), 2nd Show Blue (afternoon), then 2nd show Yellow (late afternoon - evening)...

Picnics are good if you can't get to the FP machine on a busy morning, or if there is a specific section/show you would like to go to.
The dowside is you still have to line up early in order to get a good view.

We got the picnic meals when WOC was new and FPs were going fast. The food isn't gourmet by any means, but we thought it was a decent cold light meal. I'd do it again if the FP lines were getting long again, or we were going to arrive later in the day. But if you're going to around in the first couple hours of the AM, I'd just go to the FP machines.

I would definitely do the WOC picnic again. When we used the FP line for WOC, it spit out the late, late show. Not good for us! No rush for FP with the Picnic Package, and we were able to get the early showing, and make a beeline back to Disneyland just in time for the end of fireworks/1st Fantasmic showing. We were able to secure a good spot for the 2nd showing of Fantasmic as the crowd from the first show was leaving. Well, well worth it. We got the chicken picnics, and they were filling. Even saved our caffeinated drinks for before Fantasmic when we needed that extra boost of energy!

IMHO, the bracelets were not worth it! Ordered the adult chicken meal for the kids too, they loved it. We bought a couple small cannisters of glow sticks at the Target dollar spot area before we went to Disney, and the kids loved them!

I agree to only do them if you are not going to be able to get a fastpass yourself. I have done the picnic twice and they are like airline meals. Not great, but it was worth it for me since I have two young kids and wanted to stay all morning at DL.

The FastPass that you get with the picnic is for the Yellow section, but it is regular ticket; unfortunately it is not a preferred seating ticket. If you wanted Preferred Seating, you would have to eat at specific restaurants in DCA. I believe at Cathay Circle or at Wine Country restaurant. You can eat there for dinner and they will give you preferred seating tickets for the next show that night, depending on the time you eat there. If you are going to be in DCA in the morning, I would get a FastPass and go early to the viewing area or have someone go early to save good seats.

Hope this helps!

Thanks, everyone. I think we will keep it just so we don't have to be at DCA first thing. We have EMH at DL that morning and I think I'd rather do that then hop over to DCA mid-morning. So even though we won't get preferred seating, we will still be guaranteed the first show.

I didn't think about getting the kids an adult meal, I mean it's the same price and if the bracelets are not worth it then maybe I can at least change that portion of my order. Thanks!

We tried the Picnics meals last year - but not for WOC.

I'd heard good things about their vegetarian meal, and I was not disappointed. One of the best veggie meals I had in the parks, if you can believe it. I'll definitely be getting it again, but if you're JUST going for WOC passes, it doesn't seem worth it.

We did it last year and really enjoyed it. DH had the Taste of Asia and I had one that's no longer offered that was Italian antipasti (cured meats, cheeses, crackers, roasted veggies). I'd get the picnic again ... what I was disappointed by was the show.

Sorry to hear you were disappointed. Where did you stand to watch the show, I want to avoid that spot if possible?

I'm curious, too. What didn't you like about the show?

I can't believe they no longer offer the antipasti. I loved that option! Not sure it is worth it for us anymore, but I think we bought the picnics at least 6 trips. -- Suzanne
