I've got my flights all booked for my next ABD: Wyoming in August. We wanted to try to get in a hot air balloon ride so we booked a pre-day with hopes that the weather will cooperate and we'll be able to get up and go ballooning. Looks like the balloon ride will be done by mid-morning and then we have the rest of the day on our own before meeting up with the rest of the group. Any suggestions for must-do activities?

In Jackson Hole Shop, shop, shop......a number of local stores and buy a nice pair of cowboy boots, cowboy hat and belt buckle as well as local apparel. Nice little scoop shop as well as a couple of western bars that serve food and soft drinks. Dust Cutter is the local lemonade and is pretty good and hard to get outside the area. Just outside the town towards the airport there is a great little museum specializing in local artworks as well as bronze statues and Native American art. Quite impressive. Easy taxi ride.

We really enjoyed the show at the Jackson Hole playhouse on our pre-day night. The ABD guides for our trip, and the next trip, were all there as well. Food was average at best, but the show was really entertaining. Different shows in the summer, but haven't heard anyone say bad things, only good things. Take a look at their website. Enjoy. Jackson Hole is a fun, friendly and fascinating locale.

We are also doing this trip this summer, in July (sorry to miss you!). Here are the notes for the pre-day activities that I've started to gather.

· Do Alpine slide. Front desk can give coupons

· Aerial tram to top of Rendevous mountain (Corbett’s Cabin at top for waffles)

· Shoot out on the square

· Snake River Brewery

· Consider Inn @ Jackson Hole for pre-nights (tram?)

· Dinner @ Million Dollar Cowboy Bar

· Guided hike – The Hole Hiking Experience

We were there in the Winter so the same options aren't available but I would echo the shopping (and I hate shopping!). Skinny Skis is one of our favorite stores ever. We went there every day! We also ate at the Rusty Parrot for a nice dinner. The Rusty Parrot Lodge is uniquely Jackson Hole and the food was very good! My son LOVES the Ripley's Believe or Not Museums and we did that on our pre-day, too. He loved it but I would not put it on a must do list !

Alpine Slide at Snow King Mountain looks great. There are also several other activities at Snow King Mountain. We are July 2nd. You?

We did the Alpine slide, and they have putt putt golf at the snow king, then took a gondola ride which was right next to the ski lodge. It was a healthy walk from the hotel but doable. We then decided to go to bed early to adjust to the time change and altitude, and were glad we did. On a free night we saw the play and really enjoyed it. Enjoy your trip!

On the second night we have dinner on our own in Jackson. it is after the whitewater rafting...do you recall what time approximately you got back from the rafting? (curious in making the dinner reservation)
THANK YOU

I don't remember the time exactly, but it wasn't a long trip. Maybe an hour and a half. We easily had time to shower and eat before we went to the play that evening.
