Pre Covid breakfast options

I thought only Cabanas and 1 Dining room opened for breakfast pre Covid. I ask this only because on our 2/26 Fantasy cruise I believe 2 dining rooms plus Cabanas were open probably because the options at Cabanas are slim to none and they are trying to steer passengers to the dining rooms. Cabanas was our go to place for breakfast and lunch pre Covid but it was awful from embarkation day and the next day for breakfast so we ate in the dining rooms for those meals after that. Really disappointing.

We always eat breakfast in the dining room we had dinner in the night before on every cruise.

Wow that was not my experience at Cabanas in on the Magic in December. There were certain options that were missing due to COVID but we thought there was more than enough selection for breakfast every morning. The main dining room had better food, but service was slower than what my family prefers for breakfast.

When we were on the Dream in January, there was at least one morning where Cabanas, Enchanted Garden and Royal Court were open for breakfast (all at slightly different times).
First morning we ate at RC, then at Cabanas, then EG (this was the day I know for sure that there were 2 dining rooms open), then EG (for departure).

Many years ago, on at least some days, the "casual" dining room (Parrot Cay on the Magic/Wonder and Enchanted Garden on the Dream) had a breakfast buffet and the "formal" dining room (Lumiere's, Triton's, Royal Palace) had a sit-down breakfast. Some time before (or maybe when) Parrot Cay was replaced, the breakfast buffets in the dining rooms were discontinued.

I have a vague recollection of having sit-down breakfasts offered in 2 main dining rooms on some sea days pre-Covid, but I'm not sure about that.

On debarkation day, as kmedina mentioned, all 3 MDRs have always been open for breakfast.

Even though I thought I was prepared for a reduced experience I was shocked to see the limited selection and quality on embarkation day in Cabanas. The shrimp and crab legs were great but the rest was not very appealing and believe me I am not a picky eater.

ITA—my cruise was a 3 day so I only ate lunch in Cabanas once (Palo brunch and dining room other days) and I was so disappointed. If I had been on a longer cruise I really would have been bummed out. I especially missed the carving station and various dishes from other countries. I struggled to even find a side dish I wanted (luckily I love the rolls so had that).

I think they could easily double the options and not have overcrowding, which leads me to believe it is mainly to save $$.
