Apologies if this has been asked already but I think I should be able to "pre-book" our seats soon for our August 2006 holiday (I know that it is just a request for specific seats) and need a bit of help.

Is it 330 days from your outbound or return trip? i.e. can I do the outbound seats now and the return seats in 3 weeks time or do I have to wait for 3 weeks and do both together (blimey, that sentence sounded confused & I wrote it!!).

Also, we booked through Virgin Holidays so when I go to the Virgin Atlantic website to do this, do I just need the booking reference and flight number?

Does anyone know the number to phone if I can't get it to work online?

Thanks in advance for your help.

We booked through Virgin Holidays and we had to wait 330 days from our return date as VH would not release our names/booking ref to Virgin ATlantic until this date. I also had to chase them for about a week before they eventually did it lol !!

You'll need you VH bookung ref, flight number, flight date and the lead name on the booking :)

Don't panic too much about reserving seats. In 2003 I did it by phone as soon as I could and did outward and return the same time. The second time we booked late and the travel agent took care of it but they had to wait for Virgin to release more pre-bookable seats, so it's obvious not all seats are released at 330 days. It seems to me that Virgin are not consistent. To give you an example in 2003 I bought park tickets over the phone and got a 5% discount. My friends phoned the next day to do the same and asked for their discount and was told they don't discount on tickets - lol

Looks like I can't request seats on either flight until 336 days before our return flight.

I don't really think this is fair - we're going for 3 weeks so those people who are going for 2 weeks but fly out on the same day as us can pre-book their seats a week before we get the opportunity to ;) . Don't say it serves me right for going for 3 weeks - after all it will have been 3 years since we last had a holiday :)

From reading forum members experiances it seems to me that you need to telephone in order to reserve both outbound and inbound flights at the same time.

Your comment is not new to me as our next visit is also for three weeks and this situation had occured to me. We are for once splashing out on Premium Economy seats, and other forum members have recommended certain seats to me which in particular I would like to obtain for the return flight overnight. On that 336th. day before the flight I intend to telephone in order to try to do both flights at once. Whether I can remains to be seen, but I agree with your view.

You don't need to telephone to book seats both ways...I did both ways, at the due date, for my trip on Wed.

Do you mean you booked each way seperately?

Theoretically, I should be able to book seats/meal requests for our outbound trip now but I've tried on the VA website and haven't been able to. On the VH website it says you can't book until 336 days before your RETURN flight. If anyone knows any different please let me know!

Thanks
