Hi
I want to get all the facts and figures from a presentation during my next visit but in all honesty I really feel OKW will be my choice to buy into ,,who knows I may change my mind after seeing SRS ,,I don't want to mislead the tour guide but how could I get them to take me to OKW or will they only allow me to visit SRS?
I'm Canadian so the lure of OKW is strong (tropical)but I do think in a few years after SRS becomes mature it's going to be beautiful also.I love the look of VWL but heck I already have pine trees and a forrest right outside my doors.
I've seen a number on Disney's site to pre book a tour --is this adviseable or should I just wing it 21 days and counting till I visit what we Canadians like to call Canada's 11th province .:) Thanks
Mel

I don't think a guide will give you a tour of OKW, as SSR and soon AKV will be the new resorts they are actively selling/promoting. What you can do, if take the DVC ferry boat from SSR to OKW, and ask at the front desk if they have any units they'd be able to show you. This would entirely depend upon if the resort is fully booked, and if any units are currently clean and ready for occupany.

While you are at OKW, you can stroll around the resort, and grab a meal at Olivia's or counter service at Good's to Go near the main pool area.

But absolutely you should do the sales presentation to get information and have any questions answered. Good luck with your purchase. :) You may even get "lucky" and DVC may have an inventory of OKW points available, if you want to buy directly from DVC. Otherwise, you'll have to go through a reseller, which isn't a bad thing, it just takes a little longer.

Thanks I'm going to do that --I''ll be buying resale but I'm a patient person.
Actually I can hardly wait to tell my real estate lawyer of my plans--:rotfl2:
he's so old fashioned and just rolls his eyes at me --your going to do what:scared1: ?? I've finally convinced my family I'm not off my rocker buying into Disney ...now I have to figure out if I'm buying for me at 2042 or them at 2054:confused3 ...decisions decisions decisions . I think I need a little trip away to decide. I'm suprised they (sons ) are letting me out of their sight:banana:

Hey, Baba bear...if you are by any chance staying at a Disney resort like Wilderness Lodge or Animal Kingdom Lodge on the visit when you would like to take your DVC tour, keep in mind they often have very tantalizing special offers...we stayed at Wilderness Lodge after our cruise in January and there was an offer in our room for $100 gift certificate just for attending a DVC presentation. (This offer was not in our room at Caribbean Beach the day before the cruise)

We did not feel DVC would make financial sense for us (we are in our late 40's) but were interested in hearing the real details and getting the $100! And so we went. Our guide took us around SSR and when we worked the numbers in our heads, we realized we were essentially establishing rent control on our future Disney vacations that would enable us to stay in places we really like to stay, but generally can't justify the expense of unless there's a really special Annual Passholder deal. We decided to take the couple of days to think about it, and after we left the presentation we drove over to both Old Key West and Wilderness Lodge, where extremely nice cast members took us to see units in both. We were hooked...came home, bought our initial SSR points then immediately added on some at points at Animal Kingdom.

You really DO want to attend the presentation...we'd based our opinion of DVC for years on some facts and figures offered by DVC members we met on our first cruise. The monthly fees they cited completely turned us off-those alone were more than we spent on Disney lodging in a year!. Only later did we realize this was because this couple had a huge number of points (like 500). So all that time, we were scoffing at the deals because we had misinformation. It took that gift certificate to entice us to hear the real story, and then when we took an honest look at what we spend on Disney Lodging, and the places we like to stay, we realized why they call it the best kept secret!

Good luck to you...hope to be soon welcoming you home.

Five yeats ago I wanted to buy into DVC but family -actually my darling brother convinced me to invest in property . I realy didn't have quite enough at the time money for 150 points direct disney and I didn't know at the time that I could buy resale,,if I had I'd already be a DVC owner. My darling brother has now found the love of his life and we've decided to sell the property.....so I'm back interested in DVC --actually I never lost interest:love: . I have another 15-20 years before I retire so I'm only looking at going once a year . People have nicely PM me to buy new and are offering their guides name and number. Thanks guys but I really only need 75-100 points and since Disney won't sell me that amount new,so it will have to be resale. I could go the extra 50 to 75 points but why pay MF now when I won't need the extra points for 15 years. On a positive note the property value in 5 years has has doubled so I can put some into DVC and still have alittle savings. One thing I've learned here (dis board ) is to go in with your eyes wide open and have the money up front. Learning yesterday that Disney has the right to restrict use to home resort was something new to me...I know this may never happen but what if it did,,,never say never. Hugs and thanks for being here
