Pre-arrival Photopass CDs Not Available to DVC'ers for Discount

Found out today that as a DVC'er, we are not able to purchase the pre-arrival Photopass CD to get the discount ($149 to $99). In addition, we do not get the same discount on the Portrait CD (Session) that is provided to others ($79 for DVC vs $70 when puchased with pre-arrival Photopass CD). We talked with a Supervisor in the Photopass group and basically got the answer that they don't setup the promotions and there was no one we could talk to about this.

Not sure why Disney is continuing to try to alienate a group that has demonstrated that they will spend a substantial amount of money for the long term. I know this is only $50 and in the grand scheme of things it's not that big of deal but just frustrated after we've already spent so much (510 points) with them that they only make these promotions available to non-DVC'ers.

Bring your own camera, pass it off to the photographers and they will take the exact same photo with your camera. All you will miss is the little touches on the photo. And you can still choose to buy one or two of the photos they take of you and your group.

Wow I did not know they had changed the program, back in June the Pre order discount was available to the general public, plus I got another $15 off for my Disney visa.

Sorry to hear about the portrait session, OP. We did this last August with a family group of 11 including DGD's first visit (age 1). They were priceless photos; we did the session at GF (during TS Fay but we took advantage of 5 min of no rain and went out on the beach).

It was before the prices changed and we got a nice discount with the pre-paid CD, but even without it I'd pay $79 for that session - check the Resort board for current deals just for the portrait session and then take Deb's advice for park photos - just give the CM your own camera.

I'm not sure how or where we could be excluded. I just logged into one of the numerous sites that advertise the program and bought the CD at $99 before we went on our DVC trip in July. As a matter of fact, I just complete my purchase yesterday (actually got all of my photos downloaded and ordered the CD). It was $99 as advertised.

Where did you get that info (I realize you talked to them, but why did you have to call them in the first place) - we just did one in June using the pre-order discount. We've done 3 pre-orders since we became DVC members.

The link for the pre-order is totally generic - it's not in any way tied to being or not being a DVC member, nor did it ever ask for that information in the past - as late as May.

I have no clue on the portrait session because we did that for $25 in December before they raised the price.

We were able to preorder a PhotoPass CD before our trip in June, and paid about $99 for it. We used this website: http://www.disneyphotopass.com/previsitcdplan.aspx

I was never required to enter anything about DVC to obtain the CD discount. I just now went back into the website, and it looks like anyone can preorder a CD for $99.

BTW - We used the PhotoPass CD for our family gathering in June. We had four families involved in the gathering and we logged all of our PhotoPass IDs onto one account. It worked out great and it was lots of fun playing with the Disney borders and character captions.

How would the Photopass website even know you were DVC? It wouldn't. You just enter your info and credit card number and pay the $99.

I have to agree with the others. I ordered it for $99 and it had nothing to do with being in the DVC. Try again. You can get it for the discount. I don't really know anything about the portraits though.

I LOVE DISBOARDS!!!! DW is posting reply. I didn't have all of the facts and DH was trying to do some digging for me. I was all over multiple sites and then on the phone with 4+ Photo Pass CMs getting a different story each time throughout th day today. Part of my confusion was that this is no longer a portrait session/CD combo. I was frustrated and should have taken a break and looked again tomorrow. Sorry for the misinformation and THANK YOU!!!! Again - not a great deal of money but it was the principle of the thing.

THANK YOU ALL. We will be there is 19 days with DD (2) and DS (6 Months - his first trip) and I really wanted the portrait session to be a part of our trip. Yes - I would have paid for it regardless but I am very pleaed to get the discounted rate.

I just placed my order for the CD. I'm so excited and grateful to all of you!!!! Thanks!!!
