I talked to my best friends mom tonight and they both came through the surgery with flying colors! The doctors said it went better than they had hoped. The kidney is already functioning for my friend and they said she looks better already. I am going to see them tomorrow and will let you know how they are doing.

Thanks again for all you good thoughts and prayers. Keep them coming because they still have a long recovery yet.

Well I'm off to see them in a couple of hours. I have stocked up on magazines, not a problem around my house, and I am going to stop at the store to get them a few items to make their stay more comfortable.

I just got home from the hospital and they are both doing great! The doctors are very encouraged and said that the transplant went wonderfully and that the kidney is functioning great. My best friend should be out of the hospital on Thursday and it will be just another few days after that for my other friend.

There is another episode in this saga that I didn't mention before. This past summer our friend went on vacation with her mom, this was the first vacation she had in quite a while. While they were on their way to Florida a donor kidney became available but no one could find them. They were in the mountains and had no cell service. Since she was a sheriff's deputy the county sheriff called the local police and sheriffs departments all along their route and put out an APB on them trying to find them. When they finally tracked them down they tried to get a flight back but it wasn't in time. It was looking like that might have been the last oportunity for a good match since my best friend wasn't compatable at the time. This just goes to show that everything happens for a reason.
