A friend of mine's little boy is 3.5 yrs old. He was brought to the hospital Monday night and was diagnosed with meningitis.
Since then he has gone rapidly downhill.
He stopped breathing about 2 am Tuesday morning , was blue and had to be intubated (sp?).
Tuesday during the day he was completely unresponsive. A CT showed swelling in his brain. He became septic, the infection has spread throughout his entire body. An EEG showed minimal brain activity. He had developed other complications also.
Today his pupils have gotten smaller and has started to
react to light. But now his intracranial pressure has started to increase again. A CT showed that his brain is continuing to swell. The doctor said swelling generally peaks at 48-72 hours.
He has an older brother and sister ages 5 and 10.
He has had a hard time since the day he was born.
He has a cranialfacial problem, missing bones on one side of his face and missing one of his eyes. Has had several surgeries since for reconstruction.
He is such a sweet little guy and a fighter. Smart as a
whip and super funny. His parents are amazing, patient loving people.
Please keep this family in your thoughts and prayers.
We really need a Christmas miracle.
Thank you so much.
