Prayers for my Husband

I sincerely hope that everything turns out ok.

You and your family will be in my thoughts. Hope everything goes well.

I hope your husband's treatment goes well. I will be thinking of you all... :grouphug:

I am so sorry to hear this. I will pray for your family.

I wish you and your family enough.

You have no idea how much your thoughts and prayers mean to me (well, to all of us). Initially we heard "you're too young" and "don't worry" alot. It was then replaced with "I'm shocked" and "I'm sorry". We are thankful (if there's anything to be thankful for) that it was caught and that it is apparently contained within the prostate. Unfortunately surgery is not an option due to the location of the tumour so my husband has opted for high dose radiation. I know treatment has come a long way but it does not take away the fear that comes with the word cancer.

Thanks ever so much for your thoughts and words of encouragement.

Prayers for your husband. My brother had surgery over 10 years ago. He was in his 40's also. His cancer had spread outside the prostrate & his long term survival was not thought to be good. He is cancer free now and in good health.

JustJulie,

This is good news. The fact that it is contained is so much better than if it had already spread. Have they given you a stage or a gleason score? PSA #?
My mom has some good on-line sites for info if you'd like them I'd be happy to get them from her. She has found that having knowledge and knowing what questions to ask make a big difference. PM me anytime if you want them.

Best Wishes!!

I know how deep your love is because the way you described your husband is how I talk about mine. I will pray for you and your family and just hold that love tight to him so he feels it all the time.

:grouphug: Prayer said for your DH, you and your sons.

For those who may know more about this than I do .... my husband is a Stage 2 with a Gleason of 6 (3+3). I can't remember his PSA score.

Any information or advice anyone can offer is sincerely appreciated. I am a firm believer of being well informed so I have been reading everything I can get my hands on but it is so overwhelming.

Complete removal surgery is not an option so he has opted for an internal radiation treatment and I have no idea what to expect with respect to recovery - but we will WIN over this. His boys are his inspiration so I'm hoping he draws from them ...

I understand the devastation you're feeling right now. It is particularly hard when you have young children. I also know that prostate cancer under age 50 can be much different than prostate cancer in older men (DH lost a family member to prostate cancer at age 48). But I agree with others that early detection and treatment have come a long way in 2006, and the outlook for cancer survivors is getting better every day. Having cancer changes your life, but the more you discuss it with people you will realize there are survivors coming out of the woodwork, LOL, people you never even knew had cancer before. We are many!!

Best wishes to your husband, he'll be in my prayers. :grouphug:

Best wishes for a speedy recovery to him. You'll all be in my thoughts and prayers.

I hope all will be okay. I know what you're saying....my DH is my world too. :grouphug:

Positive wishes to you and your family! Prostate cancer is VERY treatable if caught early and dealt with! :grouphug:

:grouphug: Prayers have been said for your family as your DH undergoes therapy to defeat this disease.

You are so lucky they caught it early. Best wishes to you & your family.

Julie,

My heart just dropped when I read your post. My husband was diagnosed with prostate cancer at the age of 43. At the time we had a 1 year old and a ten year old so I know exactly what you are going through.

It was one year this February since he had his prostate removed. Like your husband, it was caught very early. We are now celebrating one whole year of being cancer free. I know how scared you are right now. It always amazes me when I think back to that moment of finding out he had it. Our lives changed in a heartbeat.

Take it one day at a time. If you'd like to chat please let me know. I would be happy to.

All my best,

Mary
