It has taken me a few days to be able to write this...

As most of you know my husband deployed to Iraq 3 mos after our Disney Wedding last year. He was called home by the Red Cross after my father in law was in a near fatal accident. My DH has been home helping out his Mom, getting her to the hospital and being there for his dad. His Dad is making progress and is out of ICU.

Last Wed we got a call that my stepson Aaron who is 14 and resides with his Mom in Alaska passed away unexpectadely due to some breathing complications. We contacted DH's command and we got approved for emergency leave. We left for Alaska the next day. Here we are today...the memorial service is Friday. We have been spending all week with my stepdaughter. My husband is being strong but I know how much he is hurting...he is trying to stay so strong in front of my stepdaughter. Friday is going to be a tough day....and on Sat we fly home with my stepdaughter who will be visiting with us for a few weeks.

I hope and pray that after all this they don't send him back to finish out his deployment. He needs to be home!

What a very sad story. I am at a loss of words....but my prayers are with her and her family!!!

my heart goes out to you and your family in this most tragic of times. I know all too well what you are going through - my 22 year old stepson died last year and the heartache is constant. I will repeat what one of Jason's friends said to us "there are no words for this"

prayers to you and your family along with my love.

Michelle is right...there are no words. I'm terribly sorry. I hope you can see the good that comes from this, in that he is much happier and safer where he is now. Its hard sometimes to see the positive in something so heartbreaking, but its the only way to make it through. My prayers and thoughts are with you. Please keep in touch here on the board....we are all here for you and your family.

How sad. Good thoughts and wishes going out to you and your husband and family during this tragic time. May your obvious love pull you through and keep you both strong for each other and that adorable little girl.

Thank you for posting this here Maggie. I just wanted to say thank you to everybody who has extended their wishes and prayers.

I also wanted to make another note to you brides....I knew that our wedding photos would be valuable to us in the coming years but I never knew that they would be "priceless". The moments Randy Chapman and Kyla Feely (A Cut Above) caught on film and video of my stepson Aaron were amazing and are helping us through this difficult time. Make sure you don't skimp on film or video you never know who may not be around in the years to come. Those moments will become very precious to you when you lose a loved one.

Katie...you and your family are in my thoughts...

I am so sorry for your loss. No parent should have to bury their child, but he is with God now, and I'm sure he's looking down and is so happy that his father has found someone to help him through this time. My thoughts and prayers are with you, your husband, and your whole family.

I'm so sorry for your family's loss! I have always thought your pictures were some of the prettiest that I have seen. There is so much love in your family and it is evident from the photographs.

Katie - words can not take this pain away. I am sorry for your loss. Hugs to you all during this time and i am thinking of you all that your husband will not have to go back on deployment.

There is no harder loss than the loss of a child. I am so sorry to hear your sad news and I am definately keeping you in my prayers. We are always here if you need to talk:grouphug:

Katie, I am so sorry for your loss. My prayers are with you, Dwayne, and your step-daughter. No one should have to go through this.

I'm so sorry to hear this sad news. My thoughts and prayers are with you in this difficult time. I agree 100% with what you said about not skimping on video or photography. We took a family reunion right before my grandfather past away a few years ago, and the videos and pictures taken then of our whole family are the last ones we have, and we're so glad that we made sure to capture all the times we had.

How awful! Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family during this difficult time.

Dear sweet Katie, you and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. :grouphug: How you and your DH and DD's hearts must be breaking after losing such a gentle soul.
