Those of us in FL know how terrible this can and most likely will be. We certainly sympathize and hope for the best. :(
Our thoughts and best wishes are with them tonight. It will be a long night for those poor people.

Well I am in the Birmingham area and they are expecting that we will have major power outages not into the days but maybe a week or more. This may be the last time I get to cruise the DIS for several days!
We are suppose to get sustained winds of 60-70 mph for a period of several hours. I hope my windows stay in! My FIL said that the wind wouldn't blow them out only debris/trees falling. Since we don't have trees close enough to hit the house, I don't have to worry about that one and we have tried to secure all the loose items outside. Since my house is mostly windows and we are on a mountain this will be interesting!
I saw some people today (three cars travelling together) that were obviously looking for a hotel; they were from the Mobile area (can tell from the car tags). They didn't have any luck in this area obviously since they pulled into a small dumpy hotel and then left. I wish I had approached them to direct them to a Red Cross shelter. We have several in our community due to the high rate of mobile home residents and the lake area here. I sure hope they found a place to stay I am sure they were exhausted/stressed from the evacuation trip. So far the local news reports don't look good for the coast. My in-laws didn't even board up their condos! They covered everything in plastic and think that will protect their stuff. I guess that's what insurance is for.
Will post from this area as soon as we are through it!

And at nightime to boot. They're even talking about Ivan stalling in the southeast this weekend and causing a lot of flooding. P & PD on the way.

Praying for you...after Charley and Frances, I know what you're going through.

My thoughts and prayers are with you. Stay safe.

Thanks :)

Prayers appreciated.

We're scared. :sad1:

The state superintendant today suggested to local superintendant to cancel classes for at least Thursday. We are in North Alabama and we are at both Thurs and Friday. They think we will have high winds and heavy rains. This tells you how bad they think it will be.. they have canceled high school football Thur-Monday. Everybody better hang on to their hats on this one.

A coworker said today that she had family on the Gulf coast and they left home Monday night and it took them 12 hours to go to Canton. Normally just a couple hour drive.

I am waiting for Ivan and Jeanie to clash somewhere over South Carolina.

We are supposed to get hit real hard with the rain in my area. I am hoping and praying that Ivan takes the second path that wouldn't bring him here for so long and cause more flooding. Right now this area just can't handle that much rainfall. I'm praying that we don't have more flooding here.

Then the selfish part of me doesn't want it to hit here because I had a trip planned for this weekend. I'll be so disappointed if it doesn't happen. I'm hoping and praying that I can still get there safely.

I am 40 miles north of Pensacola. The wind is really picking up right now, but no where near where it will be in a few hours. We have huge trees that are swaying in the wind. It's pretty scary. We have our windows mostly boarded, but the ones under porches are not. We expect to lose power and we've been told it will probably be out for about 3 weeks. <yikes!> My mom lives aruond the corner from me and is a hospice patient, dependent on her oxygen machine. (my sister is with her now) We nervous about the effect teh storm may have on her and her breathing. Plus, with the giant trees all aruond us, we're more than a little nervous about what may happen to our home!! Prayers and pixie dust appreciated!

Power is making little flashes so I better shut it down.

My DNephew just started collage in Pensacola in August and is a nervous wreck about Ivan. My family on my mother's side are all in Pcola also. I am so worried about them. I will probably sit up all night watching CNN.

My thoughts and prayers are with everyone in Ivan's Path.:(
