I was high-risk pregnancy, too, and was hospitalized for a month before I gave birth at 32 weeks (I had gone into kidney failure with seizures and cardio/pulmonary edema). This was all very sudden (emergency c-section), and they had no time for any lung-maturation injections for my son--he had to be delivered then and there! He weighed in at 3.4 lbs.--which actually was a very healthy weight at that age. He was on a respirator of several weeks before being swiched to a C-Pap for a short time, and was hooked up to every machine in the book, but after a month of that, it was just feed and grow.

We always thought he'd just be a tiny little spud, but at age 10, he's already 5 ft., 95 lbs., and he's been able to pick me up and put me over his shoulder since he was eight. We were warned that he may be more likely to have learning delays/disorders, but he is a straight A student and plays basketball, baseball and football--you'd never believe he'd had a little rockier-than-normal start.
As for me, it took a while to recover from everything, and I was not allowed to breastfeed because of the anti-seizure meds. I had to be on. I was discharged after a week or so, and dh and I used to go visit Chris in the NICU everyday. It was quite the learning experience seeing all the nurses (who were beyond wonderful!) take care of all these tiny, fragile babies--it really helped us know what to do when we brought Chris home.
Pre-, peri-, and post-natal care is absolutely amazing nowadays--they will take *exceptional* care of your precious daughter and grandbaby. I'd love to tell you not to worry, but you're a mom, and will do that anyway.

Your dd and dgb will be in my thoughts and prayers today--as will you. May God give you all strength and comfort.
