I understand what you're going through as a very similar thing happened to my nana (she died of pneumonia as she was pushing herself so hard caring for my grandad who had various tumours at the time, he died not long after) My best wishes and lots of PD to you and your family at this awful time.

Thanks you all so much fro all your kind wishes and prayers. Unfortunately we had a phone call at 2am to leting us know that DMIl had passed away. Her body was just shutting doen and there was nothing that could be done for her. They were able to move her from the ICU to be with her husband just before she died so that they could be together and we were all able to speak with her last night and say our goodbyes, which a lot of people don't get to do.

So sorry, Catherine. Does your father-in-law have other friends and family there to care for him?

No, there really isn't anyone else to take care of him. There are no family members than live anywhere close to were he lives and their friends are quite elderly. At the moment he is being cared for in a medical associated care home. I'm not really too sure how this works because it's all a lot different than it is in the UK. He is 21 years older than DMIL so all the plans that they had in place were made with idea that she would be spending several years by herself after he had passed away. Nobody expected this!!
