I just saw the preview of POTC last night and got excited that I might be able to see it onboard the Wonder in the caribbean...thinking t would open July 4...We'll be on the wonder July6-10 and it opens the 9th. Do they typically show movies that just open? I know this would be the last night and probably not - but I'm just curious as to if they show movies onboard that just opened...

I don't know for sure, but from my recent experience I would say no. The Jungle Book 2 opened in theatres Feb 14. I was on the Magic 2/8 - 2/15 and they did not premiere the movie until the next week, the 2/15 sailing.

Thanks - I figured as much - that would have been cool to see it onboard but I'll have to wait.....

Don't be so sure that you won't be able to see it. Disney usually DOES premiEAR their movies on the ships the same day they open on land.

We were on the Magic for Thanksgiving week when Treasure Planet opened. They really went all out for the premiEAR at Sea (what they called it). They had banners, decorations, and all the entertainment cast were dressed up as pirates.

I'm sure they will open Pirates on the ship the same day it opens on land.

As far as Jungle Book 2, maybe this was an exception due to something not working out.

This same topic was discussed a while back here is the link: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=335915

The last post on that thread was this:

As an avid reader of this board, I have never seen anyone mention that a movie started before it's actual release date. I saw Monsters, Inc. on its premiere day on the Wonder.

Mostly the premieres are on the Wonder on the actual Friday release date. The Magic shows them the next Tuesday or Wednesday. In the case of some Wednesday openings, such as Treasure Planet and Toy Story II, they show on the Magic on the Wednesday opening day.

That is probably correct, since the planned movie night on the Magic is usually Wednesday (at least on the Eastern), movies debuting over Thanksgiving would be able to premier that day. However, movies premiering on Fridays, would cancel their farwell show, which probably wouldn't work.

I guess you will have to wait till your cruise to find out! I'm sure you will have a wonderful week no matter what. Wish I was going with you!

My 6-year old DD had a nightmare about skeletons from just seeing the commercial preview last night. I think this is one Disney film we'll be missing!
