Prague add on - post Danube River cruise

Today we went on a walking tour. We saw the changing of the guard, visited St. Vitus Cathedral and saw the Charles bridge during the day. Our local guide was good. After seeing the astrological clock we were on our own for lunch and some free time. I had to go back to the hotel and get off my feet. My hip is shot and as much as I wanted to do more sightseeing, shop and visit the museum of torture I couldn't do it. We were supposed to walk back to the old town square later in the afternoon to meet up with the group and head towards our next stop. Fortunately, I wasn't the only one having navigational issues and ABD sent a few taxis to pick up those who headed back to the hotel to transport us back at the appointed time. So, I didn't have to walk again. YAY! BONUS! Our farewell dinner this evening was fun and it was sad that this was our last day. Now that we were down to a group of 40 everyone was really just starting to get to know each other. Had this been a longer land based ABD I think it would have wound up being one of those awesome groups you get sometimes that make friends and stay in touch. As it is some of us exchanged contact info on our own.

The fireworks are probably to celebrate Bastille Day, which is a national holiday in France and the site of another unfortunate incident....:(
Why would they have fireworks in Prague for Bastille Day? Isn't that a French holiday?

Sayhello

That's what I was thinking too. Maybe there was another celebration or a celebrity getting married (they like to light off fireworks when they get married it seems) :-)

I looked for reasons, and I did say probably. Looks like it could have been for just about anything., the fireworks I mean.

Prague is so picturesque! Photo ops in every turn!

Great pics, as always! I'll be in Prague this fall and your pictures make me even more excited to check it out. I'm sort of kicking myself for not adding more time since everyone seems to have great things to say about the city. About what time did you finish the walking tour of Prague?

Thank you! It was about 12:30 when we finished the walking tour that day. I'm definitely going to have to go back there someday. The city was beautiful!

Your pictures brought back great memories of our favorite city in Europe :) We spent four days there before the Central Europe ABD and even with that and the couple of days we were in Prague with the actual ABD, there are still things we didn't get to see. We definitely plan to go back, hopefully in conjunction with a European Holiday Markets river cruise, so we'll get to see it in winter too.
