Practiced online ADR booking and it didn't work!

I practiced doing the online booking for ADR which I will be making next week for my week in February, and it didn't work. It asked for the number of children, and after I put in the number, a box was supposed to pop up for me to fill in the ages of the children, but the box never popped up and it would not let me proceed without it. I called Disney and they said there was probably just a technical difficulty. Has anyone else had these problems? Is this common? I wonder it I should do the booking on the 27th by telephone instead of online?

I would assume it was a technical difficulty. I just tried it now and the age drop down menu comes up when I entered 2 children. I think it is faster to do it online (especially if you are trying to get a hard to get ADR.) The online reservations open an hour earlier than calling so if it doesn't work on your day then you can always call. I would try online first though.

Try doing the following:

Reboot your computer-this will clear temp files and give you a fresh start on screens.

Try using a different browser. I had been using Firefox but found it has been causing difficulties with some websites (like disboards, 503 error). So if using Firefox, try Explorer or vice versa. Firefox can have lots of popup and flash blockers (which I like) but sometimes the old standard Explorer might work better.

Technical difficulties are very common with the Disney online ADR site, unfortunately.

Do you know that the switch to 180-day ADRs starts Tuesday morning? You (and everyone with a vacation into April) will be able to book ADRs then, so plan for a massive "technical difficulty" and long phone wait times.

Thanks for your help - I'm actually still having difficulty with it, so I may just have to call.

Thanks again!

Just a heads up:thumbsup2. I made practice adr's before my opening date as well, I cancelled them all, so I thought, when I called to confirm my ard's with disney they were still there:scared1: I hope they get your glitch fixed.:)

That very thing happens when I try to access Disney dining reservations via my default browser, Google Chrome. I can complete the process with adults, but if I add children to the ressie, the browser for some reason doesn't reveal the child age drop-down boxes.

So if you're using Chrome, try checking with Firefox or Internet Explorer. I've not had a problem using either of those browsers.

I am sorry but if many people are "practicing" and then not cancelling or cancelling and it not working, can you imagine the mess that is.

Why practice,:confused3 this is ADRs not the ACT to get into college. And even if you practice there is no guarantee with the Disney online system that on the day when you can actually book it will work or your computer, there are too many variables.

Please if you must practice, make absolutely sure they are cancelled.

I'm not planning to actually make a reservation before my dates, I just wanted to make sure that I understand how to do it (when to use my reservation number, how to navigate the system). And I'm glad I did because I've found this glitch. Also, I'm not very computer savvy so I knew I would need a run through first.

I called Disney Dining and asked if I can place the number in the party under the adults section, because all that matters is that they have seats available. I thought maybe I could call them later and ask them to divide it according to the number and ages of children. They weren't sure if they could do that, and that I may just have to tell them when I get to the restaurants. That sounds like it could be a hassle making this switch at every restaurant, and I'm afraid I may affect our dining plan.

This is too much headache for restaurants; I'm thinking I'll just chance it and call instead.

I practiced too, and was glad I did. Got a system together of open tabs, one for each restaurant ressie I wanted, so I was ready to lock and load at 6am sharp. This was back in July.

To me as well it seems, whats the difference if you say its 4 people, and 2 are kids? Isnt it just so you get a 4top correct table size? How you pay isnt decided til you get to the restaurant for the meal. Not sure tho if it would really be a big deal. Maybe you can make the online ressie for 4, which isnt a lie-then in a week or two call on the phone, and have them just switch to 2 adults, 2 kids...

// I happened to call dining ressies right after this and I asked her about it--she says it's not regarding the party size but for fire codes--how Disney has to plan, knowing how many kids and adults are there at one time. Whether this is true or not, I dont know.

PS making online ressies was harder than the ACT. I should be admitted to Harvard now.

I had the exact same problem when I was using Google Chrome. I switched to Internet Explorer and the problem resolved. I tested it several times over a week and the website definitely doesn't work with Google Chrome.

Oh I practiced several times before our ADR day came. On the fateful morning I had laptop and desktop side-by-side with windows open in both Firefox and IE on each with a CRT window in each one LOL

We got what we wanted too! And I was done by 6:05 am.

Good luck, Rosie8801!
