Practice For The "Ultimate Disney Trivia Tournament"

Yes, very good, they are large cockatoos. I love that breed.

What do pirates, Bill Nighy and zombies have in common?

I asked this on another thread too. And thought it would be fitting especially so here.

Bill Nighy portrayed Davey Jones in the Pirates Movies. And he portrayed Philip in Shaun of the Dead. Philip is Shaun's step father, who was fine until some nasty men came about his and Shaun's mums home one day, who were a bit bitey.... So Philip became infected by a bite. Then to make matters worse, when he, Shaun and his mum went outside to leave the area another nasty zombie bit him on the neck. Like the first bite was not bad enough.... So.... while they were in Philip's Jag, (Shaun's friend Ed was driving, now that was an experience all unto itself!) Philip then turned into a zombie. Not good... especially when you are in the back seat with him, and sitting right next to him! And... the back doors have child proof locks on them, so no getting out unless someone lets you out. :faint:

So there it is.... By the way, if you have not watched Shaun of the Dead, then do.... I love that film. I have watched it practically countless times. I also love Hot Fuzz!

You mean the Glee Club? Well Rosita was missing, there was some discussion about this a while back. Fifi, Mimi Gigi, Colette, Suzette, and the not rhyming Josephine.

Very good! And yes, we still do not know what happened to Rosita.

Great question.:thumbsup2
1.) C.K. Holliday. It was named for Cyrus Kurtz Holliday, founder of the Santa Fe Railroad (1859). Also known to be Walt's favorite.
2.) E.P. Ripley. It was named for Edward Payson Ripley, an early president of Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway. (ATSF)
3.) Fred Gurley. Named for the then-current (1958) chairman of the ATSF.
4.) Ernest S. Marsh. Was named for the then-current (1959) president of Santa Fe Railroad.
5.) Ward Kimball. Named after Disney Legend Ward Kimball. The creator of Jiminy Cricket.
The Ward Kimball is my personal favorite. When I see the Ward Kimball on the tracks that usually means the Lilly Belle is also out. :tink:

Here are some good park questions since a lot have been about movies. It's more to help people think about the changes in DL over time.

1. Can you name 10 of the 14 original attractions that are still in DL?
2. Can you name one attraction that has closed from each of the 6 decades DL has been open?

Let's see...

1) Mr. Toad, Jungle Cruise, Disneyland Railroad, Mad Tea Party, Storybook Land Canal Boats, Davy Crockett Canoes, Peter Pan, King Arthur Carrousel, Snow White's Scary Adventures, Casey Jr. Circus Train, Dumbo the Flying Elephant

2) I won't be able to name one ride from each decade, but I'll throw out a few I know have closed, including the PeopleMover, Rocket Rods, and Adventures through Inner Space.

This covers the 80's AtINS, 90's PM, and 00's RR.

1) Mr. Toad, Jungle Cruise, Disneyland Railroad, Mad Tea Party, Storybook Land Canal Boats, Davy Crockett Canoes, Peter Pan, King Arthur Carrousel, Snow White's Scary Adventures, Casey Jr. Circus Train, Dumbo the Flying Elephant

Canoes where added in after.
But otherwise that's 10 original attractions.
Anyone with the missing 4?

50's = Mickey Mouse club Circus
60's = The Flying Saucers
70's = The Indian Village
2010' = The Maliboomer (DCA), nothing has closed this decade in DL

Next Question:
What time did Disneyland open on opening day in 1955?

GoofyDuck32 I don't know and checked a half dozen books and briefly the internet and found something out. This is a really hard question.

While yesterday was Disneyland's Birthday, it is not an anniversary of its opening. It common that July 17th is called opening day but was not. This is probably due to the huge amount of information and media events of that day. AKA Black Sunday. Though 7-17-55 was actually Dedication Day, an invitation only event. The invited were let in at 2:00 pm.

On July 13th Walt and Lilly held a private, invite only, event at 6pm to celebrate thier anniversary

Opening day on Monday the 18th when general public guests were let in... No idea what time.

you are right disneyland dedication day invitations said 2:00, but like i asked, what was opening time on opening day. which you obviously know was the 18th:thumbsup2. So the answer is of course 10 AM:wizard:

Next Question:

Since you brought up dedication day. what television station had the exclusive for the 17th?:happytv:

That's easy, ABC. It's a bit funny that ABC once owned a big part of Disneyland(Disneyland was a seperate entity and the film company a part owner) and now Disney owns most of ABC.

To get away from DL questions.

Who were the 9 old men and what were there contributions to Disney?
