Practically Perfect in Every Way - UPDATE-3/1 -- LINK TO TRIP REPORT!!!!

OK...Miss 79 degrees...:lmao: How jealous are you trying to make me? :rotfl:

Maybe just a little. Consider it payback for making me jealous that you'll be leaving soon for Disney AND staying at Poly! :lmao:

Though I often wonder what it would be like if it were warm all year...does summer seem less special because of it?

Why yes, yes it does. And it's also more miserable. You step outside & the humidity can literally take your breath away. :sad2:

Anyway...yes, I do hate it! But I was sort of it expecting, as Disney's published hours didn't quite match what I've seen the last two years. But the crowds look like they're going to be insane. :scared1: So, I've just gotta be prepared to get there early and hit the ground running. Then we can go back and do the rides with FPs and the rides and shows that are easier to get into. Like Carousel of Progress! :lmao: Or Nemo...which is a walk on every single time. :thumbsup2

Yeah, I saw earlier in the week when easywdw posted the new hours. I had to shoot an email to my friend who I'm helping her plan her family's trip. I think I got her a pretty good basic touring plan to follow for each park, so hopefully they'll be ok. I know you'll be ok with the new hours & crowds....you're a pro! :thumbsup2

Use EMH, it will be your friend during that week. It really saved our trip back in 2009.

I should check the hours and update my BF, she is going that week, her first time and is a bit overwhelmed. Single mom and her 11 year old is now in a boot for the whole trip which is a major major drag.

Those are some serious changes! It all sounds good though and YAY for Poly tags!

The changes to the operating hours are frustrating, but it looks like you were able to make some awesome plans still!

I am jealous you will be seeing Karin and Tom! This isn't the first time though, right?

Hi Tina!

And here we go again - I was kind of waiting for the change in park hours too! :rotfl2: ..... and here it is!

B&C is okay with us - you might just have to be flexible with the time (and we will be in for a LOOOOOOOONG wait!) - what about a Kitchen Sink? I think Max would like all the attention ........ if not ......... they have lots of other yummies!

Love all your changes and it seemed pretty easy to get everything changed. Now if the time only flew by until then and then stopped and just crawled very very slowly while we are there. ;) :thumbsup2

Ann, Tina and I should be used to them changing hours by now ...... they ALWAYS do it! :rolleyes1

And YES, we did meet last year, we all had breakfast with Nicki and her husband, then Tina spent EMH and quite some time in the pool with us - we had FUN!! Cannot wait to  her again! :goodvibes

An actual review of our Kona breakfast will be (eventually!) in my TR, but I will say that DBF went NUTS over the Samoan.

Yay for your Poly ME tags coming!!!!!:banana:

Arghhhhh I hate the hours change right before the trip! You definitely did an awesome job of changing up your plans though! That stinks that MK is opening at 8am every day of your trip! I mean, that's pretty awesome for the early hours, but stinks for a pre-park opening ADR at CP!!! Our best trick when it's crowded is to get to the parks when they open, we can usually get to everything we want before the crowds descend!

All of your changes look great and you are ready to take on the crowds.:thumbsup2 Citricos looks yummy, I am looking foward to hearing all about it.

I can't wait to hear all about your trip when you get back. Right now I am convinced that our next family trip will be Feb. 2013 or 2014 so that I can do the Princess Half Marathon. DH has agreed to go whatever year I finally train to do it but I'm not sure about bringing him back to Disney during such a busy week. I'm afraid it will just reaffirm his dislike for Disney. On the other hand, I could go for the weekend solo and we could do a family trip that fall during food and wine. However I think if I manage to complete a half marathon at Disney won't I want my family waiting at the finish line? Lucky I have a year or two to think it through.

Max looks like a good helper in the snow yesterday. As much as I hate driving in the snow and the clean up, I thought it was nice to get a little snow yesterday. It's always nice when it happens on the weekend so it doesn't disrupt too much. Now, if that could be it for the year that would be great.

I'll take the humidity over the snow! :lmao: Of course, I'd also need central A/C, too.

UGH...I hope your friend is ready to hit rope drop! We'll be fine, its true. One benefit of going so often (OK...ONE benefit? :lmao:) is that we don't have to fit it all in every trip. We're only going to be there for five days, so I've accepted that we'll miss things (um...like no AK, at all). On the other hand, when I go in April, I'll be able to do whatever I want, so that will make up for all of it. :thumbsup2

Definitely update her and I hope she's an early (ish) riser and doesn't mind getting up early on vacation. I know its the only way we're going to see much, especially in Fantasyland, where the waits can be killer. And Dumbo isn't going to be open, yet... :sad2:

I was so excited to get our ME tags. :yay: And so excited that they say MK resort area on them. :goodvibes This is probably a once in a really long time thing, so... Truth is, they don't generally discount the Poly as much as some of the other deluxes and its regular rack rate is higher than the Beach Club.

I recall there were some changes when you went. :lmao: You just have to roll with it and luckily, all of us know how to handle things. I'm also kind of glad that we're saving something for our last day. We've yet to figure out a good last day tradition and I know last year, the whole day felt like it dragged a bit.

And no...we were very fortunate to be able to spend a fair amount of time with Karin and Tom last February. They are the nicest people! We did evening EMHs, breakfast at Cape with Mickeynicki and her husband, plus we were staying at the same resort, so that made it easy.:goodvibes

Got your PM and I think its a great plan! :thumbsup2 Mark is worried that Max will freak out if we walk past the Pirate Ship and he can't get on it, but we can avoid that, if we need to. I have a feeling once he sees you two and/or the arcade right next door, he'll be fine. :lmao: Plus, there's ICE CREAM!!!

Ann, Tina and I should be used to them changing hours by now ...... they ALWAYS do it! :rolleyes1

 Thanks, Karin! We can't wait, either. I told you Max expected you to be there last July, right? :lmao:

An actual review of our Kona breakfast will be (eventually!) in my TR, but I will say that DBF went NUTS over the Samoan.

YAY! I really think that's the route I'll go. The tonga toast sounds good, but more it sounds like it would be good in theory, no so much in reality. Plus, they have Tonga Toast at Captain Cook's so if I really want to try it at some point, I can.

Yay for your Poly ME tags coming!!!!!:banana:

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: It really was a great way to start the weekend! I still wonder what went wrong with yours, though? Who knows? At least you got them just in time!

Our best trick when it's crowded is to get to the parks when they open, we can usually get to everything we want before the crowds descend!

I'm OK with the earlier times and all, but that does sort of stink about CP. I don't know if we'll be on the dining plan for our subsequent trips (we'll see how we like the regular dining plan, it might be perfect) and if that's the case, I'll be a lot more reluctant to pay OOP for a character buffet.

I can't believe that more people haven't figure that one out yet? You can ALWAYS take a nap later on the day, when the parks get crazy.

All of your changes look great and you are ready to take on the crowds.:thumbsup2 Citricos looks yummy, I am looking foward to hearing all about it.

The menu there right now looks so good! There are three different entrees I'd be very interested in, that's rare for me. I'm usually all about the first course, so that's saying something. Plus, I really, truly did not want to go out for a really nice dinner at 5:45. Just seems wrong, somehow. :rotfl:

Good luck training for the half! That's so impressive. :worship: I'm just trying to figure out when I can to gym at all, let alone start training for a half marathon.

Pres. Week is busy. When we went in 2010, it coincided with Mardi Gras week, which supposedly makes it a lot busier than years when it doesn't because Louisiana and I think Mississippi have that week off, too. Truthfully, we hit rope drop and went back again later in the evening, just like we do during the summer and it wasn't that bad.

Last year, Mardi Gras was a different week, so it wasn't quite as crazy.

But, yes, I think you would definitely want your family with you! :thumbsup2

Personally, I would have liked it if it had been a day earlier. Most of us might not admit it, but teachers LOVE snow days. :rotfl:

I know it sounds entirely like a novelty item, and while it is definitely sweet, the Tonga Toast really is excellent both in theory and in reality. The outer layer is the sweet stuff, the inside is just sourdough bread and banana. But the Samoan is also awesome as well!

Sheesh...I thought I had it all figured out! :rotfl: Then you go and tell me that. I know...I'll try and get Mark to order the Samoan and then I'll get the Tonga Toast and I'm happy twice! :rotfl:

We got Mickey mail today...and the most exciting thing is that our ME tags say POLYNESIAN. We're really going!

Woo hooo!!!

All of your changes look fabulous! But what a pain in the rear to have to do all of that!!!

Oh Tina - what a pain with all the park hour changes.

What about a later CP ADR? I love even breakfast buffets later because I can eat more and it takes the place of lunch. I am never hungry first thing in the morning.

I can't wait to hear about Citrico's. I never read too much about it, but it's one of those places that I seriously want to try. Sounds like a great place for a romantic dinner. :goodvibes

I think your adjusted plans look fantastic! I love that you end the trip with a mid-morning breakfast at the Crystal Palace. :thumbsup2

We really enjoyed Biergarten and have talked about doing it again since we tried it. It's not a glamorous meal, but it's tasty!

Is that juice similar to the juice at Boma and Tusker House? If so, its delicious.
I can't answer this question since I've haven't eaten at either of those places. :rotfl2:

AWESOME!!!!!:thumbsup2

You gotta love when they change the hours after all your plans and ADRs were made. :faint:

Actually, I had a good time spending part of our recent snowy Saturday reworking everything. I'm just glad that I saw it in time. I did make a later morning CP ADR for our last day and I think that will work out really well. One of my planning pitfalls has been packing the start of our trips with a million things and then leaving nothing for the end, so this should fix that and get Max in to see Winnie the Pooh.

The menu that Citricos had posted looks amazing. Mark and I ate there on our anniversary trip in 2010, but we were super cranky for that ADR...not sure why. We thought it was just OK. I'm looking forward to it, though.

Thanks, Brook. Biergarten is fun and totally Disney. And its worth it on the DDP. I have learned an important lesson: if you have the DDP, buffets are worth it, if not...stay away. :rotfl:

AWESOME!!!!!:thumbsup2

Thanks, Tim. I'm excited. I can't believe its almost here! I also couldn't believe they changed the hours; especially since I've never seen them change to an 8 a.m. opening time at MK. :confused3 But, early is good with a little kid! :thumbsup2

So, my husband and I are sitting here, talking about a possible July trip (don't even ask...why did I get an AP???). You need to understand that my husband who is frugal to the point of sometimes being cheap said, "I'd just rather stay at the Beach Club," which seems to be his refrain whenever I start to talk about resorts. :rotfl: :confused3 I wonder how he'll feel after we stay at the Poly?

:woohoo: Another trip! :woohoo:

That means you should have enough TR's to keep me entertained until my December trip! :thumbsup2 :lmao:

Yeah, we'll see... :goodvibes I just can't seem to go anywhere else on vacation these days. I've been spoiled. :rotfl: But this will not be able to go on forever. I can definitely see 2013 being Disney-free. :sad2:

But, yes, I will try my best to keep you entertained. :lmao:
