PPO at Hollywood an Vine -- needed for Jedi training?

We made a PPO reservation at Hollywood and Vine with the sole purpose of signing up for Jedi training.

- Has someone done this recently? I'd like to be absolutely sure we'll be allowed to sign up before the park opens.

- Is this necessary in order to get a spot? Could we rope drop instead? We're going on a day when the park will *supposedly* not be too crowded.

- Is their breakfast really that bad?

I might just leave my DH and DS in the reservation and take the rest of the party out. They can get in earlier and sign up for training, while the rest of us has breakfast somewhere else (better and cheaper) and meet them after park opening.

we did this last October and we actually had a great meal at H&V. The characters were adorable and my boys loved their breakfasts. We even let them finish with softserve ice cream, which they thought was awesome! We were able to sign up before our ADR at 8:15am. We were the only ones in the park that early and we got photos of the empty streets. We're going back in May and I think getting the PPO ADR for H&V is a MUST for us! SIgning up for JT before is super easy and then we relaxed and had breakfast. Personally, I think it's a no lose situation.

We did rope drop in late August since we thought the buffet at H&V was a bit pricey. We were on the far left tapstile and it was an easy (brisk) walk to the signups. We were probably 10-12 families back and had our pick of shows. They had five or so stations signing people up so it went quickly. We were finished signing up in about 5-10 minutes.

We have done it both ways. H&V is easier, but not necessary. If you go at rope drop you should be fine. If you do choose H&V ask for your check early so you can leave when you want if things start to run behind.

I am hoping to have the grandkids up & out early enough to sign up. Without PPO breakfast reservations, what time would you suggest arriving? The day is listed on TP as a 4 with DHS as a 3 and a 9am opening.
