We have reservations at Hojo for 4 nights in the Kids Suite, but with the Expedia rate for PPH, I am reconsidering.

Where should we stay?

How many people are going with you? Since you're in the Kid's Suite I would imagine you have more than 4.

PPH is only going to fit 5, I believe.

They are about the same distance away (if you walk through GCH from PPH, which is the shortcut) from the middle of the esplanade.

Staying onsite gets some perks, like charging to the room, getting to send purchases back to the hotel (you can pick them up the NEXT morning, they are not delivered to your room), (unless things change...I mention this b/c the changing of it is a constant rumor) you get to take part in any Magic Mornings during your stay...

I'm distracted right now, but I'msure others can fill in all that I'm leaving out.

Basically...both have good points, both have not as good points (though the cost is usually the worst point of the on-site hotels...but wiht the expedia deal that is erased).

Oh...the HoJo pool is lovely, but their water*play* area is most excellent. PPH's pool is boring (big rectangle), but they have a slide that is not connected to the pool, so littler kids can go on it.

Anyway, still distracted...

We are in a similar situation. We have reservations at Camelot Inn for 2 nights. I haven't ever considered staying onsite because of the price and I really don't think those hotels are closer than the ones on Harbour Blvd. However, with the cheaper rates that popped up this week, we have decided to stay at Disneyland Hotel. It is still going to cost us an extra $70 a night than what we were going to pay, but since we are only staying 2 nights...we are going for it! We stayed onsite at WDW last winter and were blown away by the exceptional service we received staying with Disney. We were just in love with staying on Disney property. Although I would be happy with staying offsite at Disneyland...we are going to take the opportunity to stay at Disneyland Hotel this time because it is somewhat affordable...and next time it might not be! Hope that helps....so my advice is stay at PPH. HoJo will always have good rates but PPH may not always fit your budget!

How many people will you have in your room? You'll get 2 bathrooms with the kids suite (I do wish they had the option of 2 Q's instead of just a K in the kids suites), if you can fit in a PP room you can fit in a non kids suite room @ HoJo's ~ if the ent. rate is available you could stay for as little as $59 per night!

The two bathrooms that the kids suite has would be nice. But other than that, I would highly recommend staying onsite. Always and forever! The Hojo is a great property and when the onsite rates are sky high, it can be hard to justify paying those rates. But I have stayed at both Hojo and PPH (and the DLH, GCH and several other offsite places) and staying onsite is very nice and always a winner for me. The PPH is much more of a hotel than Hojo is. And the Disney customer service you get when you stay onsite is hard to beat, but of course the Hojo has very nice employees as well. But nobody does customer service quite like Disney based on my many experiences (over 25 onsite stays between DL and WDW).

The perks of being onsite are as Molly listed, but I just want to stress how much of a perk having Magic Mornings, each and every day they are offered is. And that pool slide is beyond cool at PPH. I also don't care for the way the Hojo splash zone doens't have a regular pool right next to it. Splash zones are great, but with the only true pool being completely separate, for me that would bother me. However, if you have young kids, toddlers in particular, that area would be a winner. For kids the age of mine, the quiet pool would be way better and the lack of slide at that quiet pool would be not so great! So for sure the pool issue will be different for each family depending on the age and likes of their kids.

Oh and the PPH pool deck is a great place to watch the fireworks.

The PPH rooms are very nice, you have two queens, a day bed (that is very comfy) and they are spacious. There is no balcony which is a bummer.

The walks are even as far as distance, but walking up DTD and or through the GCH is beyond better than walking up Harbor. You can also take the monorail back and forth which at night in particular can be very nice. The walk up a busy city street that comes with traffic noise and pan handlers is always a bit of a magic buster for me. Although that panhandling thing has been hit or miss, but I have had some not so great experiences with that walking up Harbor a few times, once in particular that really upset my daughter.

You can't make a bad choice which is good! Overall, I think the room decor, general feel and locatioin of the PPH are more upscale than the Hojo. And this is a good deal so it might be nice to jump on it while its there! But the Hojo is certainly very nice and I am not at all saying not to stay there (so Hojo lovers don't flame me please!)

We were in the exact same situation as you. We had reservations at HOJO in the kids suite for 99 per night but with the Expedia deal we could stay at PPH for the very same price. We decided to stay at PPH. It's just more special for us. And, honestly when are you going to see a deal like that again for an on site hotel? We can usually get a great rate at HOJO so I wanted to take advantage of getting a great rate while I could at PPH.

Where do you find the Expedia rate? I only saw the rate of $154 at PPH? I thought that was decent but $99 is really awesome! Where did you find it? Thanks!

The rate may not come up for your stay. I got a $ 100 rate for PPH through Expedia, but the minimum stay was four nights.

Wow! Good for you! Yes, for those rates, I think people should definitely stay on Disney property! Thanks!

Wow, $100! The cheapest I have ever gotten at PPH was $109 way back in 2004. That deal is awesome and should not be passed up! Heck, $154 is pretty darn good.

I ummed and aah-ed over the exact same thing, I have not stayed at either place but thought it would be a real novelty to stay onsite after receiving advice from some other Dis-ers.
When PPH worked out cheaper than the Fairfield Inn I thought we were definately on a winner and then worked out Hojo's against PPH and saw the price was a little bit cheaper.
Onsite is a winner for me...

I did it!! I think you all are right...deals like this may not come along again, so I booked at Paradise Pier!!! And I do love that Disney magic!

I was rather anxious about the freeway noise and walking along Harbor Blvd. I guess I can wait until next time to worry about that. :goodvibes

This is our first DL trip and we are all very excited.

Thanks everyone!!
