So, We are staying at COncierge for our trip. I called this morning (I know I should have called earlier!) and they angered me.
I want them to leave a note in the room for when we arrive that says, "Glad you are here have fun Love, Santa"
ok that is not something they do I guess. They were all confused as to why I needed a note. I told them it was a gift from santa and we want to complete the experience. So then I get transfered to a vacation specialist. And she says, " we don't do that only concierge does." I explain that they said they do not and I had to contact vacation planning. Now the vacation lady is confused and does not know what to do. I explain that 'I have no idea why this is so difficult, I can write the note when I get there and have it ready all they have to do is deliver it to the room when we check in." "she says, "they do not deliver to rooms only we do!"
at this point I am pissed off. I say "how about when they greet us they say - santa told me you were coming welcome" then I get the explanation that there concierge desk is on a seperate floor and they do not greet you when you get there! uh at the Poly they DID! so then I say "what can you do for me! What can be done, why did I pay for concierge service if there is no service!" - She says "let me speak w/ the manager of concierge and see what I can do".. That was the end of the call!
WHAT!!! Am I just xmas time stressed! Speak w/ a manager - I must be crazy!

Then I try to schedule my Char. call, it won't take my reserv. #. I called the # and it got scheduled just fine! I then ask the guy if he can answer a question for me. Of course he says. I told him the story briefly and he says " I don't understand why they can not do that?" EXACTLY. He says he will call over to the hotel and make it happen.
so that is where we are now. Will it be done, who knows. If it is not, I am going to have a letter prepared and delevered to the girls by a CM that is there secretly. I am sure it can be done, if I go up and ask them while the girls do not see I am sure they can hand it to them. That would be cute too!

oh well santa will be here in 4 1/2 hours and I am getting excited! We hired a real quality santa to bring there gift to them for xmas!

"uh at the Poly they DID!"

Let that gooooo. From reading about concierge on these boards, what it means in a normal hotel vs what it means at a DLR hotel are VERY different things. And what it might mean at WDW is going to be different at DLR. From what I can figure out, all it means at DLR is that you get access to snacks, waters, and a different lounge. And maybe different rooms, though I've also heard that you might get a room on a normal floor, if they need that to happen.

Vacation Planning are the ones who have the things that you buy and have delivered. Those were the vacation specialists you were likely transferred to.

Probably just calling the front desk is going to be your best bet, and if you do need to go up to the Concierge floor to actually check in, perhaps have someone rush over to the normal check-in area to request something like that.

I don't know about concierge from experience, but just the front desk people were lovely to us. We didn't tell them we were celebrating anything ahead of time, but when we checked in (after 7 pm) they asked, and we told them that we were celebrating our anniversary, and she rushed away and got a who bunch of balloons for us..red and pink for DH and me, and blue and purple for our 3 year old so he didn't feel left out. Now, that's not giving them a note, but then, we wouldn't have wanted that note! :)

Also, just sort of giving CMs significant looks tends to cause them to go along with you, especially if you have kids. My son was overtired during our trip, and was being pickier than usual, and he didnt' want to turn in the rental stroller so we could run back to the hotel. At the stroller checkout/turnin place, I just locked eyes meaningfully with a CM, and told Eamon that we would be leaving this stroller there, and that the nice people here would take care of it for me, and when we got back, we would pick up that exact same stroller. They caught on even before I was done with my sentence, and were beside themselves telling him that they would take good care of HIS stroller. When we got back, even though those CMs weren't there, the one who had taken their place caught on instantly, making reference that the other CMs had filled her in, and that she had his exact same stroller.

They catch on quickly. :) Especially when the guest is right there in front of them!

that is kind of a bummer about the concierge not being also service mided.
when I talked to the vacation desk, they said that unless the note was in a gift basket they could not put one in the room.
Looks do wonders and I am definetly going to try that!

I have to say that when I stayed concierge at the PP it was not so meaningful for me that I would want to do it again even at the old AP4 deal. They are there to serve food and drinks at the appropriate time and maybe deal with printing up new keys and dinner ressies, but not much else. I do hope they manage to help you out in good time though.

Why don't you pre-write the note yourself, put it in a safe, hidden, easy to reach place in your bag(s), and when you enter the room place it on a desk or something that the kids haven't looked at yet?

If they run for the beds first, slip the note onto the dresser. If they look out the windows for the view, Put it on top of the tv cabinet. If they go scampering all around the room, pull it out from the closet.

Instead of making it so hard on everyone (including yourself), why not just do it on your own? Really, the kids won't even notice, I'm sure.

I agree with this poster. Do it yourself. The only way to make sure its done to how you want it done is to do it yourself. Save yourself headaches and issues this way. Good luck!

that is what I think I will do, but when you pay for "CONCIERGE SERVICE" and you ask for something simple that another hotel has done, it should not be such a problem. WDW and DL should have the same offerings. But it all depends on the CM you get!
I will make sure to do it myself!
If you want something done right, do it yourself!

Truthfully, at the DLR hotels (in my experience) they won't deliver anything to the rooms before you get there. There are many reasons for this, but keep in mind that you wouldn't want another guest getting your note due to a last minute change in rooms. And trust me the rooms do get changed around a lot to meet the needs of the guests. However, once you've checked in, then someone can (possibly) deliver something to the room - they just can't do it before you get to the room for the first time.

Doing it yourself is the best way. I don't see anyway that concierge can help you with this, as they don't do room deliveries. (But they can make your dinner reservations ;) ) You could possibly order a plate of milk and cookies and slide the note on that when room service delivers it for you. (and I've had them deliver milk and cookies when we were out in the park - so that's a possiblity.)

But don't make it a stress issue for yourself. Just realize that for this trip, it is probably an unrealistic expectation, so a plan B will make your life much easier.

1. Don't stress yourself out about the concierge service. Everything will be top notch while you are here. . .
2. As others have said, do it yourself. Then you can guarantee the results. . .
3. This is California, Not Florida. . .service is definitely over the top in Florida. . .California is not quite as advanced service wise. . .

I stayed at the Hyatt Regency Orange this week and had wonderful concierge service, which is offered to anyone who stays at the hotel. I called about something special for my son's birthday, but they had nothing to offer from the hotel. The concierge, Angela, suggested that I get a cake from a local grocery store. She ordered it for me, picked it up for me, and had it set out in our room along with plates and utensils. I have stayed concierge at both the DLH and GCH, and the Hyatt has offered me the best concierge service by far, for a much lower hotel price. PP wanted $300 more for a suite that consisted of 2 queen beds and a sleeper sofa in the same room. At the Hyatt, we had a 2 bedroom suite with 1 king in one room, and 2 queens in the other room, plus a sleeper sofa in the living room, and we had 2 bathrooms too!

I love the convenience of staying on property, but if I am looking for quality service and a large room, I would go elsewhere. The Hyatt was wonderful, I would definitely suggest this as an alternative for any future visits.

you know I hope they will do right by this or at the end of the stay I may say something to them.
You know the Florida service at the hotel was so fabulous and wonderful! WOW is the biggest thing I can say!
BUT, the CM's in the park are rude un-disney and not as nice as our CM's at DL everytime. I have to say I have never met a rude CM at Disney till yesterday. In my siggy you can see all our trips! So FL was such a disapointment when they were rude at every turn. Maybe it was the heat of July but at the parks we were not impressed at all!!!!

I hear great things about the Hyatt. After Our stay this dec, we will decide where we stay in April! It will be decided if we enjoy the onsite service. so far not so much and we are 300 miles away!

I don't understand why one person can stay at a Hotel and get special service and another being myself and family spend 6 nights there and have to stay in a dirty, broken down, worst housekeeping, filthy carpeted room. I do not suggest this Hotel to anyone! We also ate in there restaurant and the food was so bad. The mattress actually had springs coming out from it. We where in a suite as well and It was bad , bad, bad. We wont ever stay there again. Oh we also payed 17.00 a day for parking which you have to pay even if you don't have a car.:scared1: I'm glad to hear that someone was pleased
with there stay at this hotel.:cutie:

We've stayed twice at the PP concierge level and they are very helpful, but they cant deliver things to your room before you check in ,policy. If Christina checks you in she will do what ever it takes to get it done. Shes wonderful and great at her job.

well I did ask them at one point that once we check in and we get a room can this be done. THey flat out said no, concierge does not deliever anyhting to rooms. Let me say I have had others get milk and cookies in the room for there kids when they arrive and they did not ask for it! And have had others with nice cards also. so did not feel asking was such a big thing. I will have a letter prepared and ask them to place it in our room that evening before we get back from the park. that should not be a problem!
oh what we do for our kids!

sorry to here about your Hyatt experice. but at least you like the PP. I am hoping we will too!
