Power window stuck

A body shop can do that kind of reapir. They generally have a lower labor rate then general repair shops. You might get faste service if you go to the dealer and buy whatever part is needed.

Our driver side window in our ChevyTahoe is stuck part way down. Does anyone know how to fix this or have an idea of the cost to repair it?:sad2:It never ends...we just had to get new tires and brakes, I can take those repairs I just can't stand these kind! Any info at all would be appreciated...

This is crazy that this happened to you. After you have checked the fuses and everything else, you can buy the part from the dealer and put it in yourself. My husband did it, but he works on our cars. The part was about 175 including tax.

My husband ordered the parts from Amazon.com for around $60 and repaired it himself.

What really frosted me when I took my mom's car into the dealer was that the service receptionist said, "oh, yeah - that happens all the time. It's a common problem." Common problem? (Just judging by this thread, it is.) How come they haven't fixed lousy part? It's disgusting.

Oh, and ours was "the regulator," whatever that is.

So it's fixed now...320.00 later but it's done. Thanks for all the suggestions. I wish my DH was handy enough to fix it himself but I just could see even more problems if he attempted. They are just not his thing. ;)

Inquiring minds want to know....................

What did they replace on your vehicle to fix it?

They replaced the window regulator and motor assembly...means nothing to me except the window now goes up and down:thumbsup2We went to our regular shop because they could get it in right away and fix it before we get rain later today. We absolutely love this vehicle so I am so happy she is now good to go for a good while I hope:woohoo:Thanks again for all the suggestions...never knew this was such a common problem in all types of vehicles until it happened to us.

The power window on one of my old vehicles went out. I went to an auto parts store, bought a repair manual for it and a new window motor. Fixed it myself for less than $100 (including the cost of the manual).

It's really not that difficult. The manual will show you how to take the inside cover off of the door. It shows you how and where to unplug the motor and how and where to undo the mounting bolts. Take off the old motor and put on the new. Put it back together in reverse of how you took it off. Good as new.
