Has anyone staying at FTW ever had their power surge off during the day, the reason I ask is because we will be taking our dog and she's old and will sleep all day in our travel trailer, but I have a fear of the power going off while we are at the parks, this happen one year when we were camping at the beach, power to the camper just went off, we happened to be around the camper at the time and my husband just hit the breaker but I would hate if this happen when we were gone for hours at the parks, has this ever happened to someone in FTW campground with so many sharing power during peak times ? How can you prevent this, or can you ? Thank you !

We have not experienced a power surge or loss while staying at FW as far as we can tell while being physically at the camp site. There very well could have been some occurance while we were not at the campsite and we were not aware of it happeneing, however, I will add that if this were the case I am sure it would have been very short lived.

If you are concerened about a power outage then I would just kennel your dog.

We never have had a reverse polarity either. FW is the tops when it comes to RVing and they take real good care of you and The Fort.

Relax and enjoy.

We were there once when a large part of a loop had a power outage (not us, though) and maintenance was there very quickly and had it back up in under an hour.

We did trip the breaker once. We found that running 3 tv's, air conditioner, microwave and lights all at once was just too much. We just shut off a few things and reset the breaker. I don't think that would happen if you weren't in the rv--unless you have a party animal!

I was initially concerned that a power outage might happen when the dog was alone and he'd get too hot but now I feel more comfortable that the rv will stay bearable for at least 5-7 hours and that's the longest he's ever left alone, anyway.

It did happen to us last July on our first day while we were out. Only our a/c was left on. Came back and didn't have power. It wasn't our whole loop, just our site. We called maintenance and waited about an hour or so for him to come. The plug (I think) on the box at the site had to be replaced. My DH talked to the CM w/ maintenance while he was working (very nice man that appeared over worked) and he said that it is very hard to accommodate the very large rigs with the double a/c units and it is very common for them to burn out the wiring. He thinks that was the case with the previous campers that had our site.

When we were there last Aug. we lost power in the middle of the night, but the repairmen were out VERY quickly. I called down to find out how long it would be out because I use a CPAP machine, and didn't want to go back to sleep without it, and they promised it would be on within the hour, and it really only was about half an hour. Although not totally applicable to your situation, I know they make a sticker for your window, too, that says something to the effect that there is a pet in the camper. Our elderly dog goes with us every year, and he's never had trouble, yet.
