My son loves the Power Rangers and with the Disney Store selling the stuff, we spend quite a bit of time there. Somebody at the store says the Power Rangers are down at the parks. They dont seem very Disney like to me to be there, but who knows? Anyone recently seen them or know anything about this?

Your question but I would like to welcome you to The Dis Boards.I'm also sure one of our Dis folks will be able to answer your question soon.Hope to see you often on the boards.::yes:: :wave2:

We were there in Jan and no Power Rangers. My son is a hugh fan and we would have loved to see them. We saw lots of merchandise for them, but no characters.

Welcome to the Dis!

We have never seen them there. Our most recent trip was March. I don't think they actually have the characters there. I was actually quite suprised they had their merchandise on our last trip, as I don't know how they are "Disney" related.

I was surprised to see Power Ranger stuff at the Disney Store last Christmas. I then read on a thread somewhere where Disney bought the power rangers a couple of years ago. Someone else might be able to explain it in more detail. My grandson would have a heart attack, along with all the other young kids, if they could see the power rangers in person. They would definitely be a big hit.

Power Rangers is one of the non-Disney-produced shows on the Jetix block of shows that are targeted mostly to boys. Tarzan and other Disney-branded shows are also in that block. Basically, Power Rangers are utilized on Jetix because they fit the target audience and Disney has had past relationships with Saban Entertainment, who produces PR. The Rangers do not have a presence in the parks though.

I've not seen the Power Rangers at the park in years, but in (about) 93 they had a short show in MGM and you could get autographs after. We had a 7 year old male and this made his trip! We watched the show and then we put his two older sisters, his mom, and me into each of the four lines. He ran from line to line and got all four autographs!

Earlier this year, my SIL bought a difficult to find Power Ranger toy at AK for us to give to my nephew for his b-day (did you follow that?!) but I have not heard of any meet and greet appearances or shows with the actual characters (if there was such a thing, my nephew would definitely be first in line :D )

Campingcorgi, you've gotten the Power Rangers and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles mixed up. The turtles did a show on New York St. from 1991-1993 or-so. Power Rangers didn't even debut on TV in the states for a few years after that. The Green Army Men now drive what was once the "Turtle Van".

The Power Rangers do not currently (nor have they in the past) make any appearances in the parks.
The presence of merchandise is simply ABC/ABCFamily synergy.
Saban and Fox had a distribution deal for many years. When Disney bought FoxFamily, the Saban connection (and Power Rangers) were a part of that deal.
