We are going to Universal for the first time at the end of August and are purchasing 4 day Park to Park from a reputable seller who charges in Canadian $ (which works out much better for us as Canadians).

I was looking at the annual passes with thoughts of possibly upgrading one of the tickets to a Preferred Pass for the free parking and noticed the Power Pass. My question is does the Power Pass expire 1 year after purchase or is it only good for the calendar year? Do they prorate the cost if you purchase mid year? I can't imagine they would charge full price mid year if it was only good for a calendar year. I searched online and was unable to find a clear answer so if anyone could point me in the right direction that would be great.

I'm thinking we good upgrade the 4 day tix to Power Passes and use them next August again if they are good for a year.

TIA

It's good from first use for a year. If you upgrade the date should be from the first day you use your tickets.

How about when you renew? Is it good for one year from the expiration of your old pass or does it depend on when you renew?

You can renew up to a month prior or before the 30 th day from expiration

Regardless of when you renew, it's good for 365 days after the expiration of your old pass. Renewal rates are cheaper than non-renewal/1st time AP rates (about 20% less or so when you renew).
