Power Pass AP Blackout Question

Have the AP's always been blacked out the whole month of July? If I would have noticed that, I would not have purchased them last August with the intention of using them again this summer. Starting to worry about what to do (we already booked our flight).

I did a little googling, and it *looks like* it's only for the Studios, that IOA is still open to you? (probably b/c of Transformers).

March 31 through April 14 (Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios)
July 2 through 14 (Islands of Adventure only)
December 26-31 (both parks)

2011:

Blackout dates
For IOA:
April 16-30
July 1-Aug. 13

For USF:
Jan 1
Dec 26-31

So it seems like it moves around.

Any chance of upgrading to a Preferred?

The black out dates coincide with the opening of Transformers and to a certain extent, Springfield (Simpsons area) at the Studios.

They're always blacked out in July at IOA, but instead USF is getting the blackout because of Transformers and Springfield.
