Power is back! SCARY drive home!!!

I was 15 miles away at my kids' karate class when the power went down here in Toledo. Right before class ended it came back on and I headed out--but it wasn't on everywhere and I did about 7 miles on a major road without traffic signals! Luckily volunteers or police were helping, and by the time I was in the suburb across the river they came back on--we were out here at home for about 30 minutes according to my clock radios but almost all is well now in Toledo.
I was this close to going into the carryout next to karate and buying out all of their ice! I kept picturing "Maximum Overdrive"!

Glad you made it home ok. Isn't amazing how people forget how to drive when the signals are out?

I had the radio on during the drive home. I cannot count the number of times that the DJ told everyone that a 4-way intersection should be treated as a 4-way stop when the traffic light is out. I nearly got hit just a half mile from work by someone who must have been in a hurry to get home because he just drove straight through the intersection when I had the right of way. At least the number of bozos on the road was minimal.

I have been very concerned about people driving without the benefit of traffic lights. As soon as the power went out, there began a stream of sirens.

I was sitting on our porch, watching the traffic approach the intersection near us. I was happy to see that people were using great caution when approaching, and treating it as a 4-way stop.
That is much better than how they usually behave at that light (when it's working).

I hope everyone out in traffic arrives at their destinations safely, and now more than ever will be considerate...for everyone's benefit.
