My dad is an amputee and uses a regular wheelchair and a Go Chair power chair at home. He and my mom usually drive to WDW and bring his Go Chair, but for our trip coming up in August, we are all going to fly together. My parents don't want to deal with bringing his regular wheelchair and his Go Chair on the plane. So, they want to rent a power chair for him while we are there. He doesn't want a big scooter. He is used to the Go Chair and driving it using the joystick. Does anyone have experience renting a power chair and can recommend a good rental place?

Gold Mobility rents a power chair, I believe it is one of the Jazzy line and they will meet you on your schedule. The only thing to note about that is they are doing deliveries only between 7 AM and 7 PM right now due to COVID, but they are a great company, I believe for the power chair you have to call, but that is typical for most companies with power wheel chairs.

Most companies that rent power wheelchairs will want to communicate with the renter to make sure they have experience with using a power chair.
Many of companies that rent power chairs have Jazzy Elite - that’s a Pride company, so should be pretty similar to his own.

Do any rental companies rent out hd powerchairs?

Heavy duty?
Thanks. That didn’t occur to me, but makes sense.

Randy’s Mobility rents a power wheelchair for up to 400 pounds. It looks like a Jazzy.
Gold Mobility lists their power wheelchair as a Jazzy with 300 pound capacity.
Orlando Medical Rentals has folding power wheelchairs in different sizes. The narrower ones are listed as up to 300 pounds and the widest one as up to 400 pounds.

Thank you! Good to know. We'll make sure my dad is around when we call!

I looked on Gold Mobility's site and the power chair costs a lot more to rent that the scooters.

I can’t really speak to the chairs or the prices, but some other vendors to check might be Randy’s Mobility, Orlando Medical Rentals, ScootAround, Best Price Mobility or Rent Orlando Scooters.

Yeah, I don't know much on price with any of them, but also give them a call, maybe they will work with you in price, I don't know. We just always do the scooters.

Do you by chance know the make/model name of the 400 lb powerchair is?
