So what is supposed to be good in the pots and pans department? I can't keep up with what kind is the better kind to have, etc. I get this phobia when going past this stuff in the store because there are SO MANY that I could never decide what to get. Same thing with vacuum cleaners! Anyone else feel dizzy with trying to determine which one to pick out ? :o

but had the handles fixed on my 32 year old set of stainless steel.....it is just as nice as the day we got it.....

Try checking out Consumer Reports to get some ideas. They have a yearly book that comes out in December. You can also get their information on line. That was how I chose a vacuum cleaner.

I love my copper bottom kettles. When my mom and dad moved out of their house and into a retirement community, my mom gave me her three kettles, plus her dutch oven. Revereware. The older ones are much heavier than the newer ones.

We registered for Calphalon when we got married. It's 11 years later, and they are still going strong. I like them. They are anondized aluminum, heat up quickly and evenly, don't burn, relatively easy to clean. They are not very pretty...metallic black.

I am very happy with my traditional stainless steel with aluminum clad bottoms - Farberware. They are 22 years old and going strong.

:)

I still have my 24 year old Faberware set that was a wedding gift. I have trouble with the handle on the 3qt. pan so I bought one on QVC. It is their brand and a 6 qt pan with dual handles and a big domed lid. I love it. Very versitile and can go in the oven too.

I figure I will buy one or two other pieces and keep using the old stuff. It is still in great shape.

If I were starting new, I would buy individual pieces if I could not find a set I liked. Might be more expensive but some pots I know I would never use.

All of my pots and pans are Cook's Essentials from QVC. I love them. You could always try one for 30 days and return it if you were unhappy. They usually have a "try me" piece at an excellent price. Good luck...there are tons out there!!
