Potential Waitlist Advice

So my daughter and I are heading to WDW Dec 8 - 13 of this year and are currently booked in a studio at our home resort, SSR. This Saturday, I am going to call at the 7 month window to see if we can switch as my daughter would like to try a new resort that we have not stayed at before.

Here are the four she has picked in the order she would like them.

Villas at Wilderness Lodge
Bay Lake Tower
Beach Club Villas
Boardwalk Villas


So, I have two questions,

Any insight into how easy/difficult it may be to get into any of these?

If I have to waitlist, I only get two options. Any insight into which resort/view would potentially have the best chance of success?

VWL is very small and super popular for Christmas. Nothing is impossible but I would consider this the longest shot.

BLT – I’ve heard that owners at BLT are primarily interested in the cheaper standard view rooms and the MK view rooms. Lake view rooms are the most numerous and seem to be more available. Might be a good choice to request a lake view room at BLT – I would put this on the waitlist if necessary.

BCV – very small but not as popular for Christmas as VWL. I would consider this a longer shot than BLT lake view, though.

BWV – As with BLT, owners at BWV primarily use their window to focus on the cheaper standard view rooms and preferred/boardwalk view rooms. BWV is relatively larger than BCV and VWL, so I’d take a shot at BWV-preferred view (non-boardwalk view) as my second waitlist.

You never know what might be available when you call. I would recommend calling first thing when the 7 month window opens to see what is available and get on some waitlists as early as possible.

I'm guessing that you wouldn't even have to waitlist to get the BWV right at 7 months. Let us know how you make out!

I'd agree that BWV Preferred Garden/Pool or BLT Lakeview would have the best odds for filling should you need to waitlist. Hopefully you'll get something right away when you call though!

We own at BLT. I called 2 weeks ago for BLT Dec. 10-15 and I was told nothing is available for the night of the 10th, absolutely nothing. I wanted 1 bedroom MK view and that was not available for the evenings of the 12-15 so we took a 1 bed LV. We also booked a studio at OKW for Dec. 10 and 11. I plan on WL at my 7 month mark.

I would be surprised if you are able to switch to any of the resorts you have listed. You will most likely need to waitlist for a chance to move.

I agree that your best shot would be to waitlist the preferred view at BWV and the water/lagoon view at BLT. BWV is pretty big and has the most rooms in the preferred view. BLT may have some new inventory declared between now and your trip, so that has a good chance of coming through too. (At least I am hoping to, since we have a waitlist at BLT right now as well for the first week of December!)

We will be there on Dec 4-11 and just this morning I checked on availability. The only resort that had any 1 BRs or Studios available during that time is SSR. All of the other resorts had NOTHING regardless of view.

You will likely have to waitlist. However, there is plenty of time for your waitlist to come through. You may get lucky. I'm hoping for some luck, i.e. pixie dust, myself.
