We have been working on some of details of our December vacation. Can anyone here tell me how much trouble we may have securing the following PS arrangements? I know about the PS Calculator and how to get a PS in advance. I just wanted to know if any of these are potentially harder to come by than others. Thanks! Mickey

Saturday - Cheesecake Factory at DTD - Lunch
Saturday - WolfGang Puck's Cafe at DTD - Dinner
Sunday - Rose & Crown at Epcot - Dinner
Monday - Rainforest Cafe at AK - Dinner
Tuesday - Liberty Tree Tavern with MVMCP package at MK - Dinner
Wednesday - Planet Hollywood at DTD - Lunch
Wednesday - Rainforest Cafe at DTD - Dinner
Thursday - Le Cellier at Epcot - Dinner
Friday - Big River Grille and Brewing Works @ Boardwalk - Dinner
Saturday - Chef Mickey's at Contemporary - Breakfast

The only thing I have ever had to call for at the exact date at opening was CRT. You should be fine with all of them. Unless of course you are going Christmas week.

Just so you know the Cheesecake Factory at DTD is not a full service Cheesecake Factory, its a Cheesecake Factory Express. It's basically just a snack bar with yummy cheesecake for Disney Quest. I wouldn't really consider it a lunch spot, though you can buy sandwiches there.

I don't think you will have any problems getting all the other PS's.

Have a Great Trip!

Hi there...

I don't think you will have any trouble... I noticed you picked the Rainforest Cafe for dinner at AKL... I believe AKL is only open till 5pm - so maybe make it a late lunch or pick somewhere else for dinner that night.

Also... I heard that Big River does not give PS's for dinner - it is walk in only.... check it out.

Have fun planning... it's half the fun

Thanks for your input. To be honest, I don't think we will really want that much to munch on when we go there. I imagine that we will have had breakfast at Cracker Barrel in Sanford with my honey's family before we leave them to scoot over to WDW. I know this is the usual way things go when we go to Deland to see them before we go have our vacation fun. A quick sandwich and a little piece of sinful sweet stuff to split should do us just right. Thanks! Mickey

I know that AK closes early, but that day is the EMH day for the park. We will grab a cereal bar and a juice box and drive to the park. We are planning an early lunch somewhere in the park, maybe at Pizzafari, and then catching an early dinner on the way out of the park. We plan to then go to MGM to see the Osborne Lights. I imagine we will grab some icecream or something slightly sinful while we are at MGM to take care of whatever munchies that we might have.

As for the Big River Grille news....not good. I was hoping to do a PS since I have that planned for a Friday night. I'm afraid the locals will make this a zoo. hmmmm

Thanks for your input. Mickey

Just a quick aside - on your two dinners scheduled for Epcot - both the Rose and Crown and Le Cellier are very popular during December, due to the Candlelight Processional package.

We went last year on Dec. 13-19th. We did the Candlelight Processional package on Wednesday night at Le Cellier, and they were not taking any walk ups at all - no PS, no dinner and when the people said they would try Rose and Crown - they said they were booked up too!

That said - it is not a get up and call early type of crowded - We purchased our package tickets about 4 weeks before we left.

Have a great trip!

Thanks CRCrazy! Sounds like we are going the same week that you were there last year. I don't plan on doing Le Cellier as a CP thing, it just sounded like a nice place to have dinner that night. I don't care to do CP more than once. But, it's good to know that I need to be really careful and do the PS thing ASAP due to CP.

I wonder if the CP reservations will be available before the 120 day PS date? Mickey

Last year CP packages did not come out until late August but they had tables set aside for the packages. If you are going to get a full dinner, you should get the package, it will give you 15% off shopping at Epcot that day plus reserved seats for CP.

I don't think Planet Hollywood takes PS or Reservations. The Rainforest at DD does not take PS through disney but takes reservations directly through the restaurant. The menus at AK & DD are the same, so I wouldn't have dinner there twice.

Last year was the first year for the LTT package at MVMCP. If they have it again, I would book it as soon as it comes out. Last year it was April, but that was really early.

Hi DebbieB! I'm glad to hear that WDW holds tables for CP, now I just hope they hold some tables for regular PS's too. I don't care to do CP twice and to be honest, Le Cellier shouldn't cost us $40/person for the entree alone. We rarely do appetizers or soup/salad. So, I don't really see the benefit of paying double for dinner just to saver 15% on merchandise that I should have already purchased when we were there days before for the entire day. The Le Cellier dinner night is just a quick hop over from AK to Epcot for dinner and Illuminations.

I know that RFC has the same food in both locations, but my honey loves the place. I have been told that we _HAVE TO_ go there again. So, I will make her happy and take her twice. She was actually quite pleased to hear that I was willing to go to both locations. lol

I'm still watching and waiting for MVMCP ticket dates. As soon as they come out, I'm going to be buying them. Thanks again! Mickey

As mentioned before, with the CP going on during that time be sure to get your PS for any EPCOT restaurant at the 120 day mark. Also, Rose and Crown can be very popular in the later part of the evening because of Illuminations. We have always called at 120 days out for that one and have always gotten outside seating for Illuminations. But remember, outside seating is not guaranteed.

I've also heard of people not being able to get the times they want at Chef Mickey's. I would call them at the 120 day point, just to be sure to get the date and time you want.

Last year, Disney offered an "add-on" character dinner package at Liberty Tree Tavern for those who bought tickets to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. LTT was the only sit down restaurant that stayed open during the Party (i.e., took PS ressies for 6 p.m. or later). Most people tried to get a PS time to eat dinner at LTT right at 6 p.m. when MK closed to get ready for the Party. Thus they could have dinner and stay in the park and still be among the first to be there for the start of MVMCP. The add on packages were offered well before the normal PS window and all the "good" PS times were pretty much gone by a week or so after the package was first offered. IIRC, the CP and CRT also took PS ressies that allowed MVMCP guests to stay in the park and eat after the park closed to day guests, but the latest you could get was about 5:50 pm and the normal PS window applied.

Last year, Disney also allowed MVMCP ticket holders to stay in the park between "regular" park closing and re-opening for the Party without a PS. IIRC, those guests were asked to wait in Tommorowland. MVMCP ticket holders (without regular admission tickets) were also allowed into the park well before the advertised 7 p.m. start.

Not sure what Disney might do this year, but I bet that they'll pretty much do the same thing.

Hope that answers your questions.

Thanks for the info. I will diffently keep a eye out for that. This will be our first Dec. trip and can hardly wait. We had thought that our non park day would be the day we went to MVMCP. I think the dinner package would work out great to get early entry.
many thanks

The last 2 years anyone could get in with their MVMCP tickets starting at 4:00pm, no ps needed. Last year we arrived about 4:30, they directed us over to a special line, we used our MVMCP tickets and got our wristbands. This was a Tuesday night, most of the rides had low lines so we were able to get a bunch of rides in before 6:00pm closing. I had heard that they asked the MVMCP ticketholders to go to Tomorrowland at closing, so we watched the 6:00pm fireworks from the refreshment stand seats back by Dumbo, no one was there. It was an awesome view I never saw before, they seem closer because they are shot off from behind Fantasyland. Then we walked over to Tomorrowland and rode Space Mt & Buzz before the official 7:00 reopening (they checked for the wristbands and asked anyone without them to leave the park). Then went back and got our picture taken at Small World, no line. It gave us a good jump on the party. The only bad thing was we missed the snow on Main Street because we weren't over that way at 7:00 and it had stopped after the fireworks. I didn't buy our tickets until that day because we weren't sure what night we wanted to go because they were calling for bad weather. It cleared up on Tuesday afternoon, so I went and bought them. Good thing because Thursday night ended up being a washout. Friday nights were the only nights that sold out. It will be interesting to see if they still have them 4 nights a week this year, the night we were there was not crowded. Previous years were only 3 nights a week (we've gone every year since 98).

We originally had PS at Rainforest at AK at 6pm...it was the latest they'd allow. (We ended up changing it to 'Ohana instead)
