I am 99% certain that we are booking a trip for later this year :goodvibes Dates I was looking at (and got great prices for!) were October 1-12.
What is the weather like around then?
Historically is it a busy time of year?
I have gotten a great quote for flights with VA. Before I book though do they tend to have a flight sale in April or May? I feel so rusty since booking our last trip I can't seem to remember the times of year when airlines generally have their sales!
When do tickets for MNSSHP come available and would the early October party nights be as popular as the ones close to Halloween?
I was messing around on MDE earlier and tried making an ADR for September but there was no availability of tables for any dates I put in. Its still 180 days for ADRs right?
Sorry for all the questions, feeling like a complete novice all over again after so long since booking our last trip!!

Been before that time of year( maybe a week or two later and planning to go back that time 2015). Weather can be really nice or a bit chilly. Depends really so if you are there a while wil prob have a fee cooler days.

Been told october is the quietest time of year and it was certainly quiet when i was there. Not sure if its quiet at the start or maybe abweek or so in a taxi driver was telling us

We were there 2/10-18/10 for our DS's first visit last year. I'd specifically picked it due to what I heard were low crowd levels and cooler weather. We got summer temps - though I think this was unseasonal and heavier crowds than I excepted. My previous trips had been April/May, September and December, but I think F&W pulls a lot of folks in. Not that it was unbearable but it did feel busy.

I'm hoping for a Virgin flight sale too as I have AoA booked for the first three weeks in Sept, it's either that or we'll go indirect though I don't know what that will be like with a 2 year old!

Check what day Columbus Day falls on, that creates a bump in park attendance over that weekend and has a knock on for the following week. October is no longer as quiet as it was, many US schools follow a balanced school year and many now have a week off in October same as we have.

Weather should be good but variable, mid to late 20's daytime, late teens at night, low humidity. Hovever, we have had as high as 32 with thunder storms every afternoon and 80% humidity and as low as 9 degrees at night. Take a fleece just in case.:lmao:

The Haloween tickets should be available at 180 days out IIRC, the party days at weekends sell out quickly so plan accordingly. As far as I know the restaurants are still 180 days, if you want eat in the Castle with Cinderella there is a realy specific procedure you have to follow to ensure you get a reervation, they book out very quickly, my Birnbaum Dining Guide is 2009 but details how to do it, might be an idea to get an up to date one.

Thanks for the replies :) I've checked Columbus Day and its Oct 13th, I might look at flying late Sept and coming home a couple of days before Columbus Day just in case of increased attendance. I'll definitely have a look at that Birnbaum guide, I have a couple of old guides but none of those ones.

Good point about F&W! That totally slipped my mind!! I have been in Jan, Feb, May, Aug and Dec before so I'll just plan on a cocktail of different weather lol. The flights I have priced are indirect for us, we'd fly from Dublin to Manchester and then on to MCO. Aer Lingus is the only one that does direct from Dublin to Orlando and the prices are sky high, they only fly direct on Tue and Sat too which kind of limits us. It should be.....interesting to say the least travelling indirect with a two year old and a 7 month old!!

Halloween seems to be a really popular time with Disers. I'm looking forward to the decorations and MNSSHP! We've been to WDW 7 times now and it never gets old! Its a whole different trip though now we have kids, seeing DS1s face while we were there last May was just magical :)

The time before last we did end sept/beginning Oct. It was amazing, I was so worried about the weather with it being during hurricane season but we arrived to a storm but then had perfect weather for all whole trip not rain in sight. We loved the Halloween decs and MNSSHP and the food and wine festival. May last year was great but we preferred sep/oct.

We used touring plans to avoid the busy day in parks and it worked, the evening in Epcot were busy due to F&W but apart from that it wasn't as busy as may time.

We going 2nd Oct - 11th a Oct with VA from MAN. Since booking ours last month it had risen £113pp so unsure if will have a sale in April / May but they have crept up over last few weeks.

HHN at Universal rumoured to announce something tomorrow so imagine Disney MNSSHP won't be far behind.

Been in Oct once before, 2005 when hurricane Katrina hit, weather was still hot and I know it wasn't the area to be hit but even with that in the area was like a wet and wild day in UK but warm around Kissimmee area.

We're there 28th Sept - 10th Oct!

I picked this time of year for F&W, and the lower humidity to August :) We've booked with Virgin too, we secured our price early January at just over £600pp direct economy.

Just in case you didn't know VA now charge £25pp to choose a seat (each way!). I didn't know this when booking, and it doesn't really bother us as we're old enough to fly on our own but with kids you might want to ensure you sit together!

Im hoping to get MNSSHP tickets for the Thursday night (2nd) when we are there once the dates are released!

My ADR day is next monday, so if you book in the next couple of weeks you should have a great selection of places to book as you'll be bang on your 180 day mark!

I didnt realise that about VA!! Oh we'd definitely need to book our seats! Does anyone know if preference is given for skycots to travellers with a baby? DS2 will be 7 months.
Was just thinking about the ADR date today, it isnt far off! I know what I want so now its just a matter of getting them!! We might go Sept 26 - Oct 7 instead of previous dates so that'd make the ADR date even sooner!! Waiting on the MNSSHP dates before we decide. Hoping flight prices dont fluctuate too much in the mean time!!

If you went on the 26th Sept your ADR day would be Sunday I think!

At the minute they are still testing this new system so I think a few people can still get seats for free up to the end of June but then their new system is scheduled for release & that's when people will need to pay for their seats! Well that the gist I got, I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong!

I booked my flights with VA in Feb for a May flight. I reserved our outbound PE seats on Sunday. It was free. ??

For May it's free. Looks they are implementing new system that will cost £25pp to choose seats in June for flights after that date I.e October!

PE I'm not sure anyway they might always be free! I'm only talking about Eco here :)
