The LA Times reports that there may be an incorporation of Disney characters into It's A Small World. I think that, if done appropriately, it makes sense. Something like Alice in Wonderland makes sense for England, because it is originally a kids' book written by an Englishman. What do the rest of you think?

I personally feel that it will cheapen the ride.

ew.
and double ew for taking out the rainforest and putting in an american room.

I DON'T like it at all. When I read that they were doing for Hong Kong to try to make it "more Disney" or whatever...I just thought oh brother. But then when I read they were possibly going to put them in at DL too - I was very upset. I hope that some sense gets knocked into Imagineering's collective heads. IASW is such a classic AS IT IS...I say leave it alone!

Hate the idea. It cheapens the original intent of the ride. The children of the world are the stars, not Disney characters. Put Disney characters in it and that all changes. Instead of getting the message of children from different countries with unique cultures singing as one voice, it will become "Spot the Disney character". :sad2:

Not too keen on adding an American section to the ride either. Disneyland ITSELF is enough of a celebration of America without putting it in a ride that celebrates other cultures. Save the rainforest. :hippie:

I feel that most of the people who ride IASW and enjoy it are real Disney fans, not to say that every Disney fan has to love it. Those who have that extra special place in their heart for Disney would, I think, have to agree that this is a classic, and should very well be left alone! :headache: It is one of the warm, constant memories that we get to return to...I really hope they leave it be.

This is just not right. Like mAlien13 said, those how love It's A Small World are Disney fans who appreciate the classic. Only two things make sense to me though. The addition of Alice makes sense because of what AmericanItGirl said. Also, if they add Mickey Mouse, that would add to the America section of the ride. What other cartoon has shaped America more than Mickey. I mean there is only two dolls that represent the United States of America. A few characters that represent there countries isn't bad. But when they completely drown it in characters that would turn it into a spot the Disney character ride. That is just not right. Also, is the addition of an America room true? That would be devastating.
