Potential future discounts and flex pay?

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I promise I did try looking!

I want to book a vacation next year for either Disneyland or Disney World and was just wondering if I were still paying for my vacation through Disney and I got a discount code, could I apply it to it or would it have to be completely paid off first. I have other family coming along, so it would be good to let them know concrete dates with a maximum price they would need to pay(and if we get a discount, even better!).

One more question.. The $200 deposit you pay, does that get applied to your total balance due or is it an additional cost?

As long as there are rooms available for a particular discount, you can always apply it to a reservation. If you have a package reservation and are within 45 days of arrival, you may need to pay a fee to make a change, especially if the change lowers the entire price.
The deposit you pay comes off of the bill you owe. it is not an extra fee.
