Hi guys,
A few queries:
i) Anyone with experience of flying newcastle to orlando with Monach airways. How do they compare to virgin from manchester/BA from gatwick
ii) How long via disney transport is it from the animal kingdom lodge to the magic kingdom
iii) We might try to get a late break end of July this year. If a hurricane does strike what do you actually do - just stay in the hotel complex /room?
Have read the brits guide book, any other advice for this time of year?

Thanks. :sunny:

I've always found that going from the AK resort area (AS resorts are also in this area) MK takes the longest to get to (I think it's the furthest away), but it's not ages and ages.

Welcome to the DIS

Not sure about time to get to MK, but a couple of people on here have stayed at AKL so shoule be able to help.

If there is a hurricane you are confined to your room, check out a couple of trip reports for that period last year on the UK Trip Report Board.

Apart from possible hurricanes, you need to be aware that it is very hot and humid. Therefore, you need to drink plenty of water and use lots of suncream. I am flying with Monarch on 16th July and did some research on them. I didn't have a choice with whom to fly with because our hotel is only in one brochure. Basically I have only read bad reports on the net and a few good ones. I am, therefore, not expecting much from the flight so no doubt will find them okay.

Monarch are an okay charter I'd compare them with thomson brittania, mytravel and the older first choice planes, done a few long haul with them not to florida tho' and they were cheap and cheerful. :earsgirl:

It will be extremely busy at the end of July - if you can go at a different time, for a first visit I would recommend it :)

It's about 16 minutes from Animal Kingdom Lodge to MK I think :)

Thanks for the replies so far.

July is the only option for us at present. My plan was to stay at a Disney resort to take advantage of the extra magic hours i.e. get to park for 8am stay for 3 hours or so then come away and relax/have a sleep at the hotel and then go back to the parks for 5pm and do another few hours then. Does this approach work well?

How much quieter (in terms of queue times) are the EMHs compared to normal park opening.

thanks.

Hi rjn1976

We flew Monarch to Orlando last Oct out of Newcastle. Flight was fine, only thing was there were no seat back tv's, food was edible.
We would fly with them again.

That sounds like a good plan :)
The EMH can be busy (I have not done an evening one yet so I am only speaking from experience for the mornings) with only a few rides open (usually the headline attractions, or at MK Fantasyland and Tommorowland are open early) but in July one of the advantages will be that it will be a little more cool than at midday for example.

Just looking throught the other posts, which hotels are located on the monorail system and how long does this take?

Thanks
