Okay so I am planning a trip for October 2015. I'm anticipating or at least hoping there's a free Disney Dining PIN code sent to me at some point in the future. I plan on purchasing my Disney tickets outside of WDW. My question is - if I do that, will I still be able to apply the potential PIN to my reservation or do I have to purchase Disney tickets directly through WDW rather than through another vendor?

Yes and not, if you receive a pin for a room only offer you can buy only the room and the tickets to other vendor, but if it´s a package discount or Free dining offer you must buy tickets with at least some days depending on the offer.

Oohhh okay. Boy I'm glad I asked. So if I buy say at least 1 ticket through Disney with a free dining offer, then I would be okay but it would probably depend on the offer?

Usually they require a 2 day ticket, to qualify for free dining.

Got it. Good to know. Maybe I'll get the 2 day tickets, and then get the other days needed from a different vendor to save money. That is of course if I end up getting the PIN I need. Thanks a lot I appreciate it!

Remember that the first few days of a ticket are the expensive ones. For example days 5 and 6 of a six day park hopper are something like $20 more than a 4 day. By buying a 2 day ticket and then a 3 or 4 day ticket elsewhere you are paying for those expensive first days twice. Check your pricing. You may just find it to be cheaper to just buy all your days from Disney.

Right. Probably cheaper at that point to get all the tickets through Disney since it gets cheaper the more you buy.

You are right - I completely forgot all about that. Thanks for the heads up.

Definitely. I'm gonna calculate everything now and figure it out. But it sounds like getting everything through Disney might be the way to go.

Thanks everyone I appreciate your help & insight!
