Potc Still Scheduled To Close 10-13

Hey all, I JUST hung up like 2 mins ago with the Disney Guest service. They have NO paperwork for Pirates still going down, and said if it was removed it's not going down. They also said that they would NOT have removed it from the calendar because people were complaining. She was very strict saying complaining, or not it would have stayed going down if the management felt it was time for it to be rehabbed right at that time. She said it's not going down for October. I did not ask about any other month. Just what I found ot a few mins ago

That makes more sense if they took it off just to stop hearing complaints they would only be delaying the inevitable!! :rotfl2: Disney's been around to long to know better than that.

That's great news! I guess that means that my ressie for Oct. 20 is safe. I was thinking that they wouldn't want to take that particular ride down during the Halloween season.

Its just really not fair to not give accurate information in advance. This is really starting to bother me. Don't they care anything at all that families scrimp and save, and wait months, years, LIFETIMES to take a trip to Disneyland? Things like this could make or break the whole experience for them. :( It's just so unprofessional to treat their guests this way, for the amount of money and time that people put into these trips, you think DL could put the same effort into keeping them informed of events, refurbs, etc. So disappointing.

I'm sorry, but...

Do you go to DL for ONE ride? I hope not. I would think that (as you say) families "scrimp and save, and wait months, years, LIFETIMES to take a trip to Disneyland" for the entire experience. One attraction being closed should not ruin the entire experience.

You say it's unprofessional for Disney to "treat their guests this way...." As far as we know, they are updating things the best they can. Schedules change and it takes a bit to spread the word throughout the various arms of a large operation like Disneyland.

I truly hope your entire vacation can't be ruined by just one attraction. That would make you miss out on soooo much that is wonderful.

Well, I am sending it out to the universe that it will be open for our trip Nov 1-6th. ;) Though it wouldn't ruin the trip for us, of course, being able to ride it does enhance it. It is one ride where the whole family can ride, and it is by far one of our faves!

yeah I told one of the tour guides I had met on our ladies trip in april what was said and he told me that he has no idea why any cm would tell a guest something like that...and will not be down during the time the OP indicated

hate to bust bubbles but it is on refurb scedual as of last week i looked.
just looked wow its not there hum wonder if maybe enough ppl complained

Just looked at my dates (11/1 - 11/4) and it is not on the list...obviously things change and I will just be happy if it is open and not hype it up too much to my 5 year old just in case:)

For what dates? It's not on the refurbs I looked at, at least not during our stay (Oct 17-21).

Oh, just saw your second comment...never mind!

i think you must have put in the wrong dates jade because it is not going to be down...and i dont care if a million people complained...they wouldnt take it off for that reason alone

I also called again today and the CM said that POTC was going to be open in October no doubt about it. He was actually quite apologetic for the false information that I was given the first time I called. He said that managment had decided to take it off the refurb list due to the # of complaints they had recieved, but they have not rescheduled another closing date as of yet. :cool1: He argreed that it seemed silly to close POTC during Halloween time.

Still holding my breath that they will hold off till after our trip (Nov 4-13). I really want to go on it again and I have family coming with us that has never been on it. I have hyped up that ride big time. I will be so disipointed if it goes up for refurbishment. Holding my breath!

well last week it was down, now today its not and if one person says a cm said it was couse the number of complants maybe it was good luck to all those going

If the purpose for the refurbishment is to do roof work, and it be of a lengthy nature in order to complete the project, I am all for closing it down before the winter really begins to set in. It is so important that the roofing, does not end up becoming a much larger issue. No one wants it closed during their trip, it just has to have this work done, at some point.
One of the main reasons I visit Disneyland, is to visit the wildest crew that ever sacked the Spanish Main. For as long as I know when it is to be closed then I can plan accordingly.
No one likes nasty surprises, so once it can be decided once and for all, by Disneyland, when this ride will close for refurbishment, that would be great. Then we can all go back to properly plan our next trip, in the mean time, it is a good idea to call Guest Relations at Disneyland, to double check on the status of this ride.
