We are taking our first trip to DL in July. Someone told me that there was a restaurant inside or above the ride. Does anyone know what this is? What kind of food and is it good? TIA!

It's caled Blue Bayou and it's in the loading area of POTC. It has a great atmosphere but the food can be hit or miss.

Yep the food at the Blue Bayou is hit or miss, but I found it quite good. The restaraunt is a bit pricey, but its the atmosphere your really going for. Heres the menu for the DL resort

When your on the pirates of the caribbean ride at the beginning as your floating through the bayou, to your right you can see people eating in the restaraunt.

The restarunt itself is wonderful. Very cool atmosphere, its like your sitting outside under the stars in the bayou. You can hear the banjo picking of a man sitting at his little shack in the Pirates ride.

Blue Bayou is the most expensive restaurant open to the public at DL. The food is pretty good, and is a cajun influenced. At dinner you can get steak, chicken, and fish dishes. Lunch is a little cheaper and offers jambalaya and Monte Cristo sandwiches among other things. At lunch it's often a good idea to make a PS for 11:30 and show up a little early so that you have the best chance for a water side table. PS are a must at any time.

We just ate there on Thursday and it was great! The only problem we had was that DH and I decided not to share a meal which was a huge mistake...way too much food and we hated to waste it and waste the $. It is our 2nd time there and we LOVE it! Just make sure you make priority seatings, we like lunch. Everyone trying to get ressies was disappointed to walk up and find they were booked for days...

Get every one of those 60 days advance if you can, that place books up quickly! We've always really enjoyed the food, but totally agree, the atmosphere is the key here. Also, although I know many people take their kids, it's not the best place for little kids who don't like to sit or those who don't like dark. Ours won't sit and so we won't go until she's ready. Ours also doesn't have a quiet voice yet, so we'll let others enjoy without our chatter - lol... There are other restaurants in DTD that have better food, but you can't match the atmosphere.

DEFINATLY book well in advance. I totally lucked out the other day when I called to make reservations for my up coming trip in early june. I asked for the Blue Bayou on a tuesday at 1:00 and they said there was only one spot that day left available and it happened to be at 1:15 :rotfl2: hehe so I definately lucked out there. But they said if I left it another few days, chances are I wouldnt have gotten a seat during my trip.

We ate at BB Wed the 9th, and it was spectacular. We booked for the atmosphere (as people above said)...I've wanted to eat there FOREVER...

We really had a great dinner. It was worth every penny, not just for the atmosphere but also for the food. Yum. Wish I could go back and finish what I couldn't eat! :rotfl2:

It's expensive, but IMHO, worth it. It was by a LARGE margin the very best food we had at Disneyland.

I believe with all dining options you can make PS resrevations no matter where you stay.

That's interesting because I have called 3 times and changed reservations in the last few weeks without any issues--they offered me several different time slots!

Yeah, I haven't have a problem booking week-of, and that was during my last trip, which was during Spring Break. In fact, they were turning people away for that day but saying they had available reservations for the following day.
