POTC closing on May 11th

Just saw a tweet from WDWmagic.com...... POTC will be closing for a very much needed refurb on May 11th and will reopen on Sep 26th. Hopefully the 5 month long refurb will greatly improve this much loved ride.

Bummer. We normally take our spring trip in April, but this year it's at the beginning of June. POTC is one of our favorites but it's in need of a major rehaul to get everything functioning properly.

That's a long refurb time. We rode it 4x at the beginning of Feb - even one time in the front of the boat and I was bracing myself to get soaked but it didn't happen - lucky us! Can't wait to see it after it's brought back to it's glory!

This is much needed. And I am very happy it will be reopened in time for my November trip! I love this ride.

Considering the initial reports had it going down for 6 months, I guess 4.5 is better than expected. It will be closed during my June trip which I was anticipating, but at least it will be open in November.

Darn. It is opening the day we leave and we won't be heading to parks that day. Maybe we will get super lucky and be able to ride on the 25th.

This is great news. It sucked in December when the one ride we managed to get on it (because it was down so much) was a total bummer because so many elements weren't working. Splash Mountain has looked awesome since its major refurb a couple of years ago so hopefully POTC will have some of its former greatness restored after it reopens.

It needs it. Conveniently on my trip I'll be able to see it before it goes down, and Jungle Cruise is set to reopen while I'm there as well. Good timing for me!

Well, we'll get to see it right before it goes down since we are there at the end of April. Though reading all the negative things about it and how badly it needs a refurb, I can't say that its at the top of my things to ride

Oh no! That's one of my relax in the AC rides/queues. It did seem to have some troubles the last couple of visits, so definitely due.

We will miss it for our July trip but I am in total agreement it needed a major refurb. So glad it will be getting the attention it needs. It is our traditional first ride at Magic Kingdom.

Wow, having a ride such as this that handles a lot of people at once during the summer months when its busy....I can only imagine that it will put that much more wait time on all the other rides with this one being down.
