On my upcoming trip I am making a serious attempt to not be such a carnivore. I invariably order a piece of beef as rare as I can get it. I am eating at the Flying Fish and naturally my inclination is to go for the strip steak. I am tempted to try the potato crusted snapper but I am afraid that it will taste too fishy. I like orange roughy and tilapia but I do not like salmon. Is snapper a mild fish and is this a dish that you would recommend?

I am not a fish person at all, and I have ordered the potato crusted snapper several times! It is so uniqe and just plain good. It doesn't taste too fishy at all! And the red wine reduction has a very nice twang to it that compliments the fish.

The banana napoleon and Valrhona chocolate souffle are outstanding too! :)

The snapper is excellent - it is a very mild white fish, so you would probably like it. The potato is very thinly sliced, and wrapped around the fish. The sauce is excellent. The last time I was there, they served it with leeks, which was incredible! A bite of fish, with the potato wrapping, and a bit of the leeks - an incredible mouthful! :)

Enjoy!

The Potato-Wrapped Snapper has been on the FF's menu for some time. It really is one of their signature dishes and it has gotten raves from many on this Board. I did finally try it during our Jan '04 trip. The snapper was perfectly prepared and it is such a mild fish that it, in my experience of eating it prepared a number of ways at different restaurants, is not ever fishy. I will tell you that I was not a fan of the leek sauce, as the onion-flavor of the leeks was all I could taste. Without any sauce, the dish was bland. JMHO!

The potato wrapped snapper is my favorite dish at WDW. It isn't fishy at all, and I love the reduction sauce. Definitely think you should give this a try!

When I was there last month they didn't have the potato crusted snapper, but it was grouper instead. Very tasty and a very big portion!

I'll have to go back despite the crummy service we got at FF. That snapper was awesome! I had no idea it was not a seasonal item.

It's a very mild fish with a YUMMY sauce and the leeks are FANTASTIC.
