I am due to get married at the WP on 29th April. We should fly out to Florida on 24th April.

Unfortunately as we are from the UK there are no guarantees that will happen given the current volcanic ash situation.

Does anyone know Disney's policy on postponements at short notice?

I don't know if being so close affects it, but I do know there is a clause in the contract where you can delay once and reschedule within the next year with no problems. The only issue might be finding a day where your locations are open. I'd make sure to contact your planner, since at some point they'll be ordering flowers and food and it might be too late then.
Good luck to you! Hopefully the skies will clear by next week.

Definitely talk to you planner, although I am hoping the situation will have improved by then!

I would call or e-mail your planner immediately and inform them of the potential risk to your trip to ask them what your options are. There is an paragraph in the LOA about being able to postpone and change your date within a year. Take a look at your LOA and see what it says.

I am sure Disney will work with you as much as possible shoud this volcanic ash remain an issue and you cannot travel to get to your wedding. They are probably well aware of the situation as it has been all over the news here in the US and I am sure it is effectiing other people who have booked Disney vacations.

Good luck and I hope that the flights resume in time. I can't imagine how you are feeling and the disappointment if you do not get to travel on your planned date.

I second the call them or email them ideas. We over here are well aware of the conditions. I work in a hotel where I currently have 2 British Airways crews who have been unable to leave for about 3 days (and they had only planned on an overnight layover) and 2 Thomas Cook crews who don't know when they'll be able to leave.

Thanks everyone :goodvibes

I'm going to contact my planner first thing Monday - I can't be the only Disney Bride in this situation.

The waiting is the worst part  I know a lot can change in 7 days so I haven't lost hope yet.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you!! Hopefully it will have resolved before 24th
I am a paramedic and this week-end we have not been able to use the resources provided by our air ambulance. Unfortuately, there have been a few incidences where their help would have made things far easier for patients, over the last couple of days. I just hope it is all resolved soon. Sending you pixie- dust pixiedust:

We're really worried too because no-one knows when things are going to get better. I just keep thinking that the airlines will have to start looking for alternatives soon otherwise they'll be out of business :scared1:

We are due to fly out from Gatwick on 28th April for our wedding on 5th May. If you hear anything from your planner please post back.

I hope you make it in time xxx

Hi sorry to hear about your situation! There are a couple of other Disney brides in the same situation as you on another board. One was supposed to be in Orlando by now and is/was getting married within the next few days..... I think Disney have been very understanding with her, as have her other vendors (although I can not speak on her behalf) perhaps if you went over there and talked to her she would have some better info for you.

What a nightmare.. I really feel for you.
We are due to fly out saturday too and earlier on the news they were talking about the wind direction etc and said that by the end of the week (think it was thursday or friday) there is a storm blowing from the south and will push the ash north clearing all our air space. (now I did only see this once and they aren't really giving much info about it on the news, but if this happened then the weekend should be looking good). So fingers crossed for you.

My brother-in-law and all DH's family are due to fly out to Mexico on Tuesday for his wedding (we're not going but that's another story) and looks like they aren't going, they were supposed to of gone last year but it got cancelled two days before they flew due to the sine flu!!:scared1:

Thanks everyone :goodvibes:

An email has been sent to our planner so we can talk through our contingency plan tomorrow - so I'll let you know what can be done.

My step-mother's brother is a BA pilot and he has said the winds are due to change by Thursday too. He told us about BA's test flight earlier this afternoon and is going to let us know how they get on ASAP.

Just hope everyone makes it!

Just want to wish you luck and send you a bit of pixie dust (not volcanic) to get you there on time:tinker:

Let us know how you get on with your planner.

Sending good thoughts your way. I hope everything works out. I cannot imagine how stressful this must be for you.

Well we've talked with Disney and we just need to keep them updated and our planner is looking into alternative dates for us as a contingency.

We can take up to Monday 26th to see if we make it to Disney this coming Saturday.

I am feeling a little more hopeful on the situation as the UK airspace is due to start reopening tomorrow subject to that pesky volcano behaving itself - mother nature is an awesome force!

So keeping my fingers crossed, showering in pixiedust: and accepting all the  I can get!

Maybe I can celebrate with a SDD tomorrow?

That sounds wonderful!
Who would have thought a volcano in Iceland could cause you so much trouble travelling to Florida? :confused3
Sending good luck your way :tink:
Keep us all posted!

Good Luck! It's affecting everyone. A girl I graduated high school with is from Sweden and was due to fly back in for a visit on the 17. She's stuck waiting until labor day to come now :(

I hope you get your wedding! <3

I am pleased to report that UK airspace will open from 10pm (BST):cheer2:

I am very hopeful for our flight on Saturday and feel more comfortable saying it's only 9 days till my Disney Wedding! :dance3::cool1::bride:
