I understand these discount postcards seem to be bestowed on people at random, but ..... there must be something I can do to increase my chances of receiving one. How do you think they got your name? Are you a frequent guest? Did you register on a Web site? Did you request literature?

I've been in the Disney Club card program, I've requested literature/videos, I've signed up online to receive Disney news/info. I have never received a card.

However, my 5-year-old DD received a postcard recently and we haven't had her name on anything to my recollection.

I can't figure it out. We did receive the most recent postcard but it was in my husband's name, not mine. I am the one who has made our reservations (in my name that is) for the last 3 years, the Disney Club card is in my name as well. But we do each have our AP's.

I am not sure how they chose who gets them either. I have signed up for all disney related email offers and such and have never gotten one. We do have APs and the Mickey Monitor comes to different people at the same household sometimes, although no matter who gets it we only get one.

Our family took a vacation a few years back. We had three rooms. I had put my brother's room in name when I made the ressies so that it was part of my DC rate. I was paying for part of his room as a grad. present. Anyway, upon checkin they put the room in his name, but the address was left as my home address.

He just got a postcard in the mail, mailed to my house with his name for the Deluxes thru 10/2. I do get postcards every now and then, but found it funny that he got one.

We already have ressies for December, but I wonder what would have happened if I wanted to use that deal. It had a pin # on it, but it was mailed to my house. oh well, maybe another time!

Now that I think about it more, I wonder if only previous guests who don't currently have Ressie's get the cards. Why would Disney want to send you a discount card if you already have ressie's and plan on paying a higher price.

Just a thought, as I'm sitting here waiting for next week to come.:D

Tom...

I belong to the DC and join all contests and request all videos and promotional literature. I've been to WDW and Disneyland every year for the last 6 years, but have never stayed on-site.

But, I've received 3 postcards in the last year. Of course, I was never able to use any of them.

They are always in my husband's name, with our last name spelled wrong - which we discovered was also the case when we got our AP newsletter...deductive reasoning would compel me to believe that we are on the list because of our APs.

Our postcard gives us a rate of $119 for AKL or WL, 8/25/02 - 10/02/02.

I emailed Disney about 1 month ago to see if there was anything I could do to get the postcard. They emailed back to say that it was all random and you could do nothing, i.e. survey's, polls, sweepstakes, to increase your chance. Sorry to have to post this.

I called CRO and asked. I was told the post cards are sent out by the Marketing Dept and is random.
