**Postcards needed for Special Education classroom project! Only 14 more states!**

One from Mississippi will be on its way by the weekend. I teach 3rd grade and my class has actually been collecting post cards for the last few weeks now as a class project. We are trying to see how many postcards we can get and from how many different states also. My students were soooo excited today when I told them about this. We are in the middle of state testing right now, so as soon we are finished we will get it in the mail.

I put a postcard from Utah in the mail today. I think this is such a fun idea!

Did the post cards ever arrive from Germany?

They have not arrived yet. I am betting they will come sometime this week, though.

I have updated the list. We are a little over halfway there! With only a few weeks left of school, we are hoping to get the kids their Pizza Party!!

I am sooo sorry. I haven't been feeling well lately and my guys have been running me ragged with baseball. I plan to hit the mall tomorrow to get a postcard and get it out from PA.

I'm in SC and have the same type of class your DH has, self-contained, ages 6-13 or grades roughly 1-6. I didn't mail one from SC because someone else had already claimed it, but you've given me a great idea for next year! We are also in a rural area and most of my kids have never been farther then the next county over. Would you mind asking your DH the name of the book he's using? Also, if you haven't gotten SC yet please let me know and I'll get one in the mail for him.

Edited to add: I don't see NJ on your list, if you haven't gotten that please let me know and I'll have a relative send one out.

There were a few that said that PP said were sending and they have not received them. I just checked with DH and he said that he has not received South Carolina or New Jersey yet, so that would be great!!!!

The full name of the book is Barfing in the Backseat - How I Survived My Family Road Trip. It is #12 in the Hank Zipzer series.

Just adding:
Henry Winkler (aka "Fonzie" from Happy Days) is one of the authors. He has dyslexia but he wasn't diagnosed with it until he was an adult. School was a big struggle for him when he was a kid. People called him "stupid" and "lazy." The books were taken from ideas of his own childhood and a great read (or read aloud) for kids with Learning Disabilities!

I love this series!!

OP, I'll send a card from NM. I did a similar project with my class a few years ago with 4 other teachers that I met at a teacher's convention in Chicago. We all decided to put together a "state box" which included things about our states and things produced in our own states. We each paid the postage to ship the box to the next person on the list after we were finished with it. Then the person to receive the last box at the end, got to keep the contents. My class got to keep the Hawaii box which had lots of cool stuff in it!

Some things we put in our state box (that the students brought in) included state postcards, recipes for New Mexican foods we eat here, dried red chile pods (with a recipe for red chile enchiladas), a jar of locally-produced salsa, a large ziplock bag of pinon nuts (state tree is the Pinon tree) to be shared with each class, a dried piece of a yucca plant (state flower), a small state flag with the flag salute verse that the kids at schools say, a state map, a piece of Native American pottery, turquoise and lava rock, a handwritten note from each student saying what they like best about our state, and lots of other things.

Thank you! I will definitely be doing this project next school year! I just got off the phone with family in NJ, they will pick up a post card today. I'll look for one from SC after work tomorrow and get it out asap. Thanks again.

SC should get there by Tues, I mailed it out yesterday. Having the same problem finding postcards in NJ. Noone carries them anymore. If anyone goes to the beach or an amusement park, or someplace like that this weekend, they'll look there.

just got a call from family in NJ, they finally found some cards! They are sending 1 from the Jersey Shore and one with a picture of the Manhatten sky line. They'll go out on Tues, so should be there hopefully Fri. 6/3 or the following Mon.
