I received a postcard today for Deluxe Resorts $109 per night. They are only good for the WL and AK. I gave the CM 3 dates in the time period 1/1 - 2/11. They were sold out of the standard rooms (which the postcard is good for). She asked if I wanted to book at a different hotel (regular Rate) I said no thank you. Why send out post cards if you are already booked? Its not like I waited to book, I called the day I received it.

humm, lots of people here have successfully "used" them.

I'd call back. Maybe you got a "bad" rep! ;)

PS: Welcome!

The rep I spoke to last night told me there was a massive hiring of reps recently-she was hardly well versed herself, as a matter of fact I got the room booked, but she never asked for any requests so I called back today to request a non-smoking room with a king size bed.

I'd try again.

Good luck!

It is really unfortunate that you weren't able to take advantage of the pricing on your postcard. They do certainly seem to have limited quantities - maybe the dates you were looking for were really popular.

In spite of your dissappointment, though, I don't really think it's fair to call it a "Scam". JMHO.

I know that the amount of the standard rooms are limited, especially at the WL. Did you ask about a comparable discount for a pool or savannah view for the AKL or a woodsview or courtyard view for the WL? Generally they do have more of those rooms available.
I was able to use a post card for my stay at the POR this past September. The post card listed the cost as 79.00 per night. But when I called I could have upgraded to a water view for for 89.00.
If it were me I would call back and see what the cost would be for the next level of rooms.

Truely they are not a scam. I am sure somewhere on the card, possibly in very small print, it says subject to availibility. You were just not lucky in the dates you wanted. And as stated standard rooms are very limited.

Call again and ask about the next step up.

Try calling back. You need to talk to a differenct Rep. I know from past experience that you should be able to get some type of discount with that card.

I agree with you! Scam may be a strong choice of words, but it sounds a little like a bait and switch. If you advertise an item, you must have a reasonable amount of that item. If you called the day you got the postcard and the rooms were already sold out, and you were offered another room at standard price, I would wonder. I would call back and try again. You can always ask for a supervisor. Good Luck!

Also, remember these post cards have been being sent out for at least a week now. I have been reading lots of posts about people getting them. So it would not be a surprise if some of the rooms are already booked. I have used them before, it is truley hit or miss

"Scam"? "Bait and Switch?" I don't think so after reading this thread

If you couldn't get a ressie for the exact price you wanted I'd consider yourself very lucky compared to this poor lady.

FYI- there are 135 standard view rooms at AKL and 724 Savannah view rooms. It seems the resort was built to accomodate those who wanted rooms overlooking the main attraction of the resort. I would imagine Disney would only allot a percentage of rooms for the postcard, therefore the standard availability would be MUCH smaller.

I have a qustion? How do you get on the mailing; list for these "Postcards"?

Thanks so much!!

Here's an interesting twist on the postcard--when I called today about booking a room at the CR, the CM told me that a pin number "code" was already filled in on my profile! Apparently I had been sent a postcard, but since I had recently moved, had not received it, but the code was in place and I was able to get a discount. A big happy surprise for me!

Call back. I got a postcard, and was told that the $109 rate was valid only at the WL and AKL, but there were discounted rates available at other properties as well. I was quoted $194/night at the Beach Club. You have to spend somewhat more, but no where near rack rates!!!

A coworker got the same postcard for WL and AKL for $109. She was informed that the dates she wanted were booked. I think they offered her $165 for a pool view at AKL.

Even if all the postcards for a certain time period are mailed from Disney on the exact same day, (which I doubt they are) there is no way they are going to arrive at the homes on the same day. Therefore some dates can be sold out by the time your postcard arrives.

Anything that comes bulk mail, as these do, are delivered when the post office gets around to it. I often get my JC Penney sale flyers a day or two after the sale is over. Same with these postcards, it's possible you are among the last to receive them.

Just because the rooms are sold out for your dates doesn't mean the postcards are a scam and doesn't mean the rep is bad. Rooms are always subject to availability. Standard rooms at WL and AKL sell out fast when a discount is on.
