I keep reading that you have to go to DTD to get postcards and to send them. Can't you get postcards at the park and mail them from you hotel?

Of course - you can mail post cards from your hotel or from the parks. There are lots of mailboxes around and several places I've purchased post cards offer to sell you stamps as well. I believe the scrapbooking store in DTD offers a special postmark though? I'm not positive about that, but it might be why people are going there.

Thanks for the reply. I thought it would be strange if you couldn't just send out a postcard from your hotel. I will definately pack our addresses now!

People may go to DTD for the special postmark-not sure since I have never gone there. However, it's impotrant to note that no matter where you send them from on property they will not be postmarked from Walt Disney World but rather the post mark will read Lake Buena Vista :wizard:

Thanks for the info. But we are just sending them mostly to kids that won't look at the postmark anyway.

Just back from a trip to the World. You can get postcards and mail them from any of the parks or hotels. But it's only at the DTD store where they sell the scrapbooking materials that you can mail the postcard with the special Tink postmark. To me it's worth the extra trip, especially if you're going to be in the area anyways.

Then there's the fact that anything you mail from a park takes an extra 2-3 days to get where it's going.

If you mail your postcards from your hotel or a park, you may get home before your postcards reach your family/friends. If you want them to get to their destination sooner, mail them at DTD.

yeah a cm in epcot told us they wait until the boxes get full before they send them out from the parks so the mail isn't necessarily picked up every day.

Can't be as bad as a hotel in Spain we were in last September! Postcards put in post box on hotel reception desk on Sept 14th were postmarked in Spain November 5th!!!!!!

It is great to know about the special DTD postmark. I hadn't heard of this before and I intend going to the scrapbooking shop anyway, so will post my cards there! Thanks

In December we mailed out over 30 postcards from POFQ.
Only 3 of those postcards actually made it to their final destination.
I had characters sign postcards one day. I was too chicken to do a ride, so I saw the White Rabbit, the Mad Hatter and Alice standing all alone. I had each sign a post card for my son for my son to have as a surprise when we got home. I mailed them from POFQ. They never arrived.
The only people who got our postcards were my parents, my little niece and one of my older son's friends.
I think I wasted a lot of money.
