Good grief! I always complain that I never get a postcard with a special rate. Well, I got one. It's quite elaborate - it's obviously tailored to folks who have been to Disney in the past - not first-timers. Anyway, the concept is "10 reasons to return to WDW." And #1 is the special rate. Guess what? it's for the darn value resorts - which I'm not interested in. $109 a night? Pleeeeeez!

Why can't I get a postcard rate for a deluxe or for goodness sake - at least a moderate.

Okay - I said it - I feel better now. Thanks for letting me complain.

Anyone else get this lovely piece of advertising in the mail?

I got the same card...but mine was $99 a night for value! And it says you have to book by April 6th! Do they think that people that have been to Disney are idiots! You get a much better deal using the codes. So much for loyalty to past Disney guests.:(

I've received postcards in the past that were not good deals IMO but about a month ago I got one in the mail that made me want to cry because we can't go back until next year. It had a photo of the AKL and said it was for deluxe resorts one of which was AKL and there was a note at the bottom that there were other deluxes as well with limited availability (which I would guess means WL is probably included but probably not the more expensive deluxes like the GF) for....are you ready? $124 per night!! I am positive that would be for a standard view but still - that is a GOOD rate! It's good from mid-April until July. Of course the postcard has a PIN so it's not transferable. Of course next year when I'm planning our May trip I am sure I won't get a postcard because that's how my luck runs. When we planned our first trip in 1997 I didn't know about forums or codes or anything and just called CRO and made reservations for a courtyard view room at the WL. We were so pleased at how friendly the staff was. I had called the resort directly to ask a few questions and got the sweetest CM and when we arrived there was a basked of fruit, cheese, crackers, and candy with a card signed by her. I just couldn't believe it. NOW I understand. It's because we were being robbed! 7 years ago and had a base rate of over $200 a night, I believe $240 something with tax. Ouch, ouch, ouch.

Try calling CRO with the code on your postcard and see if it can also be used at a deluxe. Often the codes are interchangable!

I will say every postcard I have gotten I have been able to call and use for rates at the other category of hotels.

At least you guys are getting postcards.....we have NEVER gotten one and have been to WDW every year since 97. Going twice this year. When 2004 is over...we would have been there 11 times since 93 and NOTHING.

I agree we have never gotten one and would be pleased to get one of any kind

Seems lately people complain they don't get them, then they complain when they do. :)

Are the postcards you refer to direct from Disney? I got a postcard last week, can't recall all the details as it was for dates that don't work for us, but when I looked closely, it referenced a local travel agency.

Do you get postcards for registering at disney.com That is the only way I can think that they could get my address. Since I have never stayed at a resort. But I might have left it with them sometime in the last 8 years. My rate for valu was $59 and I jumped on it!

I got the same thing! I have no interest in staying at a Value - figures that's the card I get.

I did call CRO & they said they couldn't apply it to a deluxe :(

I hope I didn't sound like I was complaining about Disney sending me one - I'm mad at myself for not pinching the pennies more this last year so we could take advantage of the offer! I have no idea how they decide on who and when to send them. We've been going yearly since 1997 also and it is just in the last year that now I've received two. I was an AP holder and a former Disney Club member. I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not.

The one I received last month was from Disney. No mention of any other agency on mine.

I received the same postcard - for $99 a night at a value. Much better deals using the codes.

I checked th WDW site, and that's the rate for a standard value room during PEAK SEASON :earseek: ! That's not a deal at all--same rate as on the internet!

It just goes to show you that getting a postcard may not always be a good deal, or ANY deal for that matter.

:wave2:

Hi there - I'm the OP. I really wasn't complaining that I got a card - I was complaining that $109 a night isn't even a deal. And, also because it was a value resort which I'm not interested in. I did have a glimmer of hope when a poster suggested calling to see if it could apply to a deluxe. Then, of course, another poster tried it and it didn't work. What blows my mind is why did some folks' cards say $99 per night - and some $109? Interesting.

I'll just wait for the AP codes for after 7/4 - maybe this proves they are coming soon. Soon being in a few weeks. If they are discounting rooms via these cards perhaps they are in that "mode" of discounting and AP's are next.

One can hope.

It sounds like I got the one some others got with 10 reasons except mine was value for $114 but it specifically mentioned a visit during Christmas (Dec 20-31, 2004) which I thought odd since that is the timeframe we're planning a trip. We already have ressies though thru a TA with AAA rates right now awaiting better codes. We use a PO box for mail and our physical address for fedex and such and this combined both addresses. I can't figure out where they got our info and weird combo address. Sometimes if I'm not sure if a package is sent via usps or ups I will combine the two like this postcard did but I haven't done that with any Disney stuff. I'd sure like to figure it out so I can get more!!

One other time a few years back we received a postcard in our address but someone else's name. The kicker was that we had our house built so there was no previous owner. I can't remember the exact rate offered but it was for the deluxes for under $149 and I was ticked off that Disney wouldn't let us have the code.

I got the same card, but mine is for $74 /night value and book by April 10. I can't find anything saying which dates it is good for though, only when you must call by.

Hello All,

KingGoofy...I can top that. We have been going since 1971 at least once annually, and usually more than that. We always stay onsite from 7-14 days. Usually using a code, AAA, or AP rate when available.

We are former Magic Kingdom Club, Disney Club, Annual Passholders and disney has my address, phone, email etc....etc...etc..

....and we have never received a postcard or special offer!

I guess they know we are coming even without the postcard!
