Postcard and Emails in the past...

We have not been to WDW in 5 1/2 years and pretty much every year we get postcards with the "special rates" but we are never able to go. So of course this year we are thinking about going. I got an email a few weeks ago with some Spring and Summer rates but we will not be able to go till this fall/Dec. at the earliest. So I guess my question is to I chance it and book a room at rack rate now and hope I get a post card or do I just wait and see if I get one this summer and book then? Do you think if someone books a room they will automatically not send a postcard or email since they already "have" you booked? Thanks for any advice or info.

You could try using the postcard you have for the dates you want to go, even though it isn't technically for those dates. We got a postcard once that we couldn't use cause we weren't planning to go during those times, but we were planning a trip later that year, so we called and asked, never dreaming we'd be allowed to use it, but we were. As it turned out, we had to cancel the trip, but we had a good rate if we had gone. So I would try it, otherwise I think I'd wait til the summer to book, unless you plan on going during a really busy time or want a specific resort.

Thank you for the advice. Maybe I will try that. We are not thinking about going during a busy time...probably Value season in December or the week before Thanksgiving (which is now regular season I guess).
