I've seen a lot of posts from cruisers who got a late PAT and are now worried they will get on the ship really late. Maybe we can help alleviate some anxiety.

Please post:

Ship you cruised on
Port Arrival Time you chose when you did online check-in
Time you actually arrived at the port
Boarding Number you were given
Time you actually got on the ship

Dream
PAT 11-11:30am
Got to the port at 11:20am
Boarding # 3
On the ship at 11:45am

I think for this to be accurate you need to put in what time your scheduled Port Arrival Time was AND what time you actually arrived at the port.

Oops, I meant to say that too. I edited my original post.

Magic (out of NYC for a 5 night Canadian Maritimes cruise that departed on a Sunday)
Scheduled PAT : 1pm to 1:30pm
Actual PAT : 11:40am (long wait for porter at Pier 88 since pier is shared with Norwegian and long security line also since bother DCL and NCL cruisers went to same security line so we did not get to the Disney check in until roughly 12:10pm)
Boarding #18 (while waiting to get on ship we got our kids bracelets for Oceaneers)
On ship : 12:35pm

It might be important to specify which port.

LA (San Pedro)
Wonder
PAT 12:00-12:30 (2 separate cruises)
Got to port at 11:45 for first cruise; 11:55 for second cruise
Boarding number 13 (both times)
On board both times 12:25.

:cutie:

No offense meant to the OP, but these are the kinds of threads that take away the flexibility that Disney allows, and they will become stricter after reading posts like this. They do read the Dis, I know this. And if it spreads that people can just show up as early as they want, they will start to really enforce when you can get on.

Magic - Ship you cruised on
1:30-2:00 - Port Arrival Time you chose when you did online check-in
1:25 - Time you actually arrived at the port
None, all boarded as they were finished with registration - Boarding Number you were given
Close to 2 PM, we had been delayed due to our own doing. Would have been on by 1:40/1:45 - Time you actually got on the ship

FYI, I prefer late arrivals. Typically there is no waiting. I check the web came in the AM to see that the ship docked on time (or early) and then I take it easy until the afternoon when I can breeze to the pier. I only live 20 minutes away. Obviously this may not work if you fly in or live a long driving distance away.

No offense here - but honestly, they SHOULD enforce it.

It's the same old same - if they're going to go to the trouble of HAVING a policy, they should ENFORCE the policy.

It was not my intention at all to make people think they should show up as early as they wanted. What I was trying to do was help people realize that if they showed up at their later PAT, it wouldn't take long at all to board the ship.

As far as I know, DCL is enforcing their policy (and they should). I haven't heard of any crowding problems at the terminal or lines of people being made to wait outside. It all seems to be running quite smoothly. Having people choose PAT's is working out very well.

Ship you cruised on - Fantasy 6/16

Time you actually arrived at the port - 10:45
Boarding Number you were given - 3
Time you actually got on the ship - 11:45

We used to be the people that showed up at 10am (when the port opened at 10am) & hung out until we could board until Noon. That was back when your boarding # was related to when you got to the port. Now, absolutely no reason to show up any earlier than 11am since your boarding # is related to your port arrival time as evidenced above. Still get boarding group #3 no matter when we arrive, & now, the port gets crowded & it's no longer fun to sit and wait :sad2:

Magic (2-night NYC Weekend Getaway - 6/15)
Scheduled PAT 11:00am
Arrival at Port (in line for security) 10:55 am
Boarding #4
Onboard ship just before noon (Ship boarding started @ 11:45)

As a side note, I hated that they didn't enforce PAT in NYC only because it made it so crowded around the gate area that you could barely hear the annoucement of what number was boarding and when our number was called we tried to get through the crowd of people which was very very difficult and there was a couple of rude comments made.

I wouldn't have cared if they had better crowd control and maybe after checking in could have somehow used the size of that terminal to seperate out the crowd.

Also to note the line for Castaway club was way longer than the line for new cruisers- they could have also handled this a lot better. But with all that they did stick to the numbers according to the PAT and once they started boarding they caught up pretty quick and got people on the boat.

Sorry specific details are missing

Magic 3/17/12 (spring break)
12:00 PAT
arrived just after noon
walked right on after check in
had plate of food, drink in hand and bathing suit on by 12:30

Can't say how much we appreciated how unrushed, uncrowded and efficient the process was compared to our previous experiences.

Ship- Disney Dream
Port- Canaveral
Date-6/10
Check in time- 11:30-12:00
PAT- 11:35
Boarding #- 11
Actual boarding time- 11:50

Ship you cruised on: Fantasy 6/16-6/23
Port Arrival Time you chose when you did online check-in: 1:30pm
Time you actually arrived at the port: 1:20pm
Boarding Number you were given: #25 (But they announced open boarding right as we received our number)
Time you actually got on the ship: 2:30pm

The ship was fully booked, and it was a mess getting around the terminal. At one point, the line was double from front to back, and people would walk up the the line at any point instead of just going to the back. It was very frustrating, and I really don't understand why they announced open boarding when it was still way before the last port arrival time.
