we only had to make one blanket per person, but they had to be twin size or larger. There are 5 of us, so we made 5 blankets. We bought the fabric from JoAnn's, and made double layer. It would be kind of hard to make just a single layer if its a fleece knot blanket, I would think? Here are ours. Silly me, I never got a picture of all of them completed! We did "big kid" patterns for three, as teens and boys are often overlooked. Most people make them for babies and younger kids.

Project Linus wasn't available in our area, but we do have Binky Patrol (same thing). We made 3 blankets (1 per person). I'll have to take a pic of the extra blanket we made.

Already printed our vouchers.

I want to make some to donate...can anyone send me the "best" easy to follow pattern....(I am not doing it for GAD, we already did that) but would like to send them as "extra volunteer stuff"
I still have my ds NICU crochet hat/cap and I treasure it!

The easiest way to do them is:

buy 2 coordinating fabrics in either 1.5yd length (lap blanket/toddler blanket) or 3yd length (nice big blanket that will cover the top of a queen bed).

lay them together with the good side facing away from each other (so one good side against the bed or floor and one good side facing up at you)

cut to match each side and cut off the edging from the 2 finished sides

then cut out a 3-5" square from each corner (make sure to hold the 2 sides together)

do that for each corner

then start cutting fringe all around the entire blanket. About 1-1.5" apart and try to get them to be the same depth as you cut your corners. I just lay a yard stick across the side and cut up to that point.

once you have all your fringe cut, go to each corner and tie the pieces together. Make sure to do each side of each corner before starting to work on a full side. Keeps the blanket from stretching too much and keeps everything nice and matched up.

Also make sure to make the same knot all along the blanket. One way will bring the opposite fringe up and the other will keep the same fringe on the same side.

Make the knots nice and tight but be careful of over stretching the stretchy sides. When you cut the edging off, those sides will pull instead of being firm and some fleece pulls a lot.

I bought one of the kits you can get at JoAnn Fabrics for $5 when they were on sale. I bought it awhile ago for my girls to make for my nephew when he was born. But they never made it, so I used it for this! The kit has 2 pieces of fleece and the intent was to make a 2 layer blanket tied together. But the project Linus blankets only required one layer. So I took the 2 pieces and made 2 blankets out of them. If you notice on mine, one blanket is patterend and one is plain. They were meant to go together.

Buy some fleece on sale or get a remnant. Don't forget to use one of the 50% off JoAnn coupons or 40% off Michaels coupon.

I bought my kits off ebay and paid $11 each (4 of them - the seller may have bought them for $5 on clearance too). I've got one Disney Princess, two Winnie the Pooh, and one Spiderman. I haven't made them yet, but the size was right for what was listed on the website, and it was cheaper than buying the fleece (at least in the places that I looked).

It took us about a half hour to do the cutting and tying.

I also knit one, and that took a bit longer -a few hours total.

We did four. Two for my Dh and two for myself. We dropped them off this past weekend and got my email with vouchers this morning. Our chapter has now asked for no more fleece tie blankets (if you register from a particular date and moving forward)..... you should have seen this womans house! Blankets were everywhere...such beautiful colors, all types of fabrics...it was amazing!

I have a question for those of you who are dropping off at "one of several" drop-off locations for your blankets. How long before you heard back from someone acknowledging that you did, indeed, turn in your blankets?

I dropped my blankets off at a drop off point yesterday morning. I was given no kind of receipt (I am assuming that is normal) and the woman made it clear to me that hers was just a "drop-off point". She was busy with customers for her business and was anxious to get back with them. I gave her a piece of paper with my email address on it and she put it in the top of the first bag and tied the handles of both bags together and closed them. She said this would identify me to the person in charge. We made sixteen blankets. I came home and emailed the lady in charge and told her how I dropped off the blankets and would wait to hear from her on what to expect next. My blankets were not due until mid-March, so I was dropping off early--which is allowed. I did have someone take a photo of me in front of the drop off location holding two bags of blankets--one blanket opened to show the work. I hope if there is any doubt that this will serve as proof that we fulfilled our end of the bargain--seeing as there was no receipt given.

Anyhow...just wanting to know when it might be expected to receive some kind of verification that my blankets were received. Thanks!

Hey Belle - I know you live just down the road from me - did you drive over to Arlington or FW to drop off your blankets? Mine are due this weekend and I'm planning to drive over tomorrow or Saturday. I may choose a different site than you if you're not too confident about the receipt.....

My contact had told me ahead of time we would not hear anything as she could not check us of in the Disney site until the February 20th date. I received my confirmation and printed my vouchers February 23rd so three days after the actual due date but a month after I dropped them off!
