Back in the day.....our video store would sell the previously viewed movies for $2.95. I'd go in at the exact time every Tuesday to see what they were moving from the new release rack to the for sale rack. We got a lot of them there.
Also, at one time or another, every store in my town thought they'd cash in on the video rental market. Ok, every store would exaggerate, but several did. When these stores saw that they really couldn't profit, they'd then sold all their movies for practically nothing. We also got a lot that way.
I also couldn't tell you how many times I've been through Columbia House. I'd buy what I had to, then they'd always send offers inviting me back and how could I refuse???
I also bought some on eBay (DVD's and games too) at less than retail price. I'm sure I picked a few up at yard sales, but there were some that I bought in the store at release.
It really didn't take that long to get them all! The kids were young too, so we bought lots of kiddy movies for them, and we wanted the adult ones, so there was always plenty to choose from.
